The materials you provided have allowed students to explore math in hands-on and accessible ways, giving them the confidence to participate and succeed. These resources have truly supported a more inclusive environment where every student can learn in the way that works best for them.\r\n\r\nOur students have also embraced the structure of the Building Thinking Classrooms model, which relies on daily random grouping to build collaboration skills and strengthen our classroom community. With your support, we are able to implement this model smoothly, giving students opportunities to work with new peers, share ideas, and approach problem-solving from different perspectives. Several students who are often hesitant in social or academic settings have especially flourished—they are now more engaged, more willing to contribute, and more comfortable working alongside classmates they might not normally choose.\r\n\r\nBeyond academics, your contribution has made a meaningful difference in the wellbeing of our students. The Clorox wipes have helped us maintain a clean, healthy environment where students take pride in caring for their shared space. Your funding has provided me with invaluable resources—curricula and activities that are specifically designed to bridge the gap between textbook math and the real world. This is especially crucial for my students, many of whom have historically felt a disconnect from mathematics, leading to lower A-G completion and graduation rates. Your contribution will help us change this narrative.\r\nThe resources I now have access to are a game-changer. They provide me with ready-to-use lessons that allow students to grapple with real-world problems and see how mathematical concepts apply to their everyday lives. For example, instead of simply learning about linear equations, students are now analyzing how their mobile phone data usage affects their monthly bill, or using geometry to design a garden. These types of problems build conceptual understanding and make the learning experience more meaningful. This direct application to their lives is helping my students develop a positive math identity and agency, as they begin to see themselves not just as consumers of math, but as confident problem-solvers who can use it to navigate their world.\r\nYour investment is not just in new materials; it is an investment in the potential of every student. By helping me provide these rich, engaging experiences, you are empowering my students to overcome the challenges of traditional math instruction and see its relevance in their lives. The impact will be seen in their improved academic performance, increased confidence, and a more positive view of their own capabilities. The new technology you provided has been a transformative tool for my students, and I'm eager to share how it's helping them learn in ways that were not previously possible. In my math class, we're using the iPad, Apple Pencil, and Apple TV in our classroom to visualize abstract concepts, such as graphing complex functions and modeling real-world data sets. This hands-on, interactive approach allows students to manipulate variables and instantly see the results, solidifying their understanding far more effectively than traditional textbook exercises. The ability to digitize their work in small settings allows for a deeper dive into content in a comfortable setting. The most exciting feature for my students is the collaborative capability of the new product. They can work together in real time on shared digital canvases, building a more connected learning experience. This has not only fostered teamwork but has also encouraged peer-to-peer teaching, as students who grasp a concept can now easily guide their classmates. The ability to share their work with others during whole-class instruction and while working at vertical surfaces has been a particularly powerful way for students to advertise their learning.\r\nThe impact of this technology is especially visible in students who have historically struggled with engagement. For example, a few of my more reserved students, who are often hesitant to participate in whole-class discussions, have particularly warmed to this new tool. The technology tools we received from the donation have been especially helpful for those who struggle with printing and those who benefit from visually enhanced diagrams and notes. One student, who rarely spoke in class, now actively uses the product to demonstrate her solutions to her group. She can explain her reasoning with confidence by showing her work on the digital screen rather than speaking in front of the class. Another student, who previously became easily frustrated with pencil-and-paper problems, is now one of the first to explore a new feature, showing a newfound curiosity and willingness to take risks. These students have found a new way to access and express their mathematical thinking, and their confidence has grown immensely.\r\nYour contribution has done more than just provide us with a new piece of technology; it has opened up new avenues for learning and personal growth. Thank you again for investing in our students' education and for empowering them to learn and succeed in a more dynamic, engaging, and collaborative way.","fullyFundedDate":1749084352580,"projectUrl":"project/digitizing-math-to-reach-all-students/9392345/","projectTitle":"Digitizing Math to Reach All Students","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Strattman","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8912521_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1697001731230","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mrs-contreras-strattman"},{"teacherId":4415550,"projectId":9019085,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generosity and help in getting these items to my students. Also, it starts a literacy conversation with the students about why they chose the books that they did. \r\nThese books spark meaningful conversations about literature, encouraging readers to share ideas and insights with one another.
