These materials allowed students to move beyond simply reading about electricity and magnetism and instead actively investigate how electric current creates magnetic fields.\r\n\r\nStudents worked collaboratively to build simple electrical circuits using batteries, wire, and compasses to observe how magnetic fields change when current is present. Through this process, they were able to see real-time cause-and-effect relationships between electricity and magnetism — a concept that can be very abstract for young learners when taught through text alone.\r\n\r\nThe kits supported our Amplify science unit by allowing students to test predictions, collect observations, and revise their thinking based on what they saw happening in their own investigations. Many students expressed excitement when they noticed the compass needle move as current flowed through their circuit, helping them understand that electricity can create a magnetic force.\r\n\r\nThis hands-on experience improved student engagement and supported deeper understanding of key physical science concepts such as energy transfer, forces, and interactions. Students were able to develop problem-solving skills as they adjusted their circuits and discussed results with peers.\r\n\r\nBecause of your support, students who may not otherwise have access to lab-style science materials were able to experience authentic scientific investigation in our classroom.
