As students carefully removed blocks, they also had to think critically, communicate their ideas, and demonstrate their understanding of the material.\r\n\r\nOne of the greatest impacts has been student engagement. Students who were sometimes hesitant to participate in traditional discussions became eager to contribute when learning was connected to the game. The element of play created excitement in the classroom while still maintaining a strong academic purpose. Students were not simply answering questions—they were actively applying what they had learned.\r\n\r\nJenga also strengthened collaboration and communication skills. Students worked together, listened to one another, explained their thinking, and respectfully responded to different perspectives. The game encouraged students to take academic risks in a low-pressure environment. This has been particularly helpful for students who may not have access to a calculator at home or who struggle with more advanced calculations. Instead of spending valuable class time trying to find or share a calculator, students can focus on understanding the math and building their confidence.\r\n\r\nThese calculators will continue to make a lasting impact on my classroom for years to come.
