Whether it is the brand-new art supplies sparking creative problem-solving, or the essential organizational tools keeping us on track, these resources are making a tangible difference. My students are more engaged, motivated, and eager to learn because they now have the proper tools to succeed.\r\n\r\nThank you for your willingness to support public school classrooms and for believing in the potential of my students. Students are now able to choose seating options that help them feel comfortable, focused, and engaged during lessons and collaborative activities. One of the most impactful moments came during a recent class discussion project where students analyzed multiple perspectives in a nonfiction text. Because students were able to move into comfortable discussion groups, I noticed a huge increase in participation, thoughtful conversation, and critical thinking. Students who are usually hesitant to speak began contributing ideas and asking deeper questions during peer discussions.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the new seating options, their excitement was immediate and genuine. Many students walked into the classroom smiling and asking if they could try different seats right away. They expressed how much they appreciated having a learning environment that felt welcoming and designed with their needs in mind. The flexible seating helped students feel more ownership over their learning space, and that positive energy carried directly into our classroom activities. Even students who often struggle with focus seemed calmer and more engaged throughout the day.\r\n\r\nAs we continue through the school year, students will be using the flexible seating during collaborative projects, Socratic seminars, and small-group problem-solving activities that encourage discussion and higher-level thinking. Our next unit focuses heavily on student-led conversations and analyzing evidence to support claims, and these seating options will continue to support productive teamwork and communication. Thanks to the generosity of our donors, students now have a classroom environment that encourages comfort, confidence, collaboration, and meaningful learning every single day.","fullyFundedDate":1771597647300,"projectUrl":"project/seats-that-spark-success/10105278/","projectTitle":"Seats That Spark Success","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Lulla","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp4048314_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1522913275966","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/4048314"},{"teacherId":9967579,"projectId":10107014,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for providing our sixth grade students with supplies that allow their ideas to flourish. \r\n\r\nStudents were so excited to utilize the art supplies and had fun doing activities on our small whiteboards. These tools allowed students to investigate scientific phenomena firsthand, helping them build curiosity, critical thinking skills, and a deeper understanding of how science connects to the real world. \r\n\r\nThe art supplies provided for STEAM activities encouraged creativity, innovation, and problem-solving as students combine science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics in collaborative projects. So far, some of the most enjoyable lessons to teach have been those related to symbolism. This has been a \"first\" for many of my students, as they are reading an allegory for the first time. As a result, reading Animal Farm by George Orwell has opened students' eyes not only to how creative a writer can be, but also to how a story can represent a specific historical time period and/or figures.\r\n\r\nReading Animal Farm is a communal experience in my classroom. We listen to the audio simultaneously and follow along in the text. I think students prefer this approach, as it can be daunting for my EL and SPED students to participate in the \"popcorn\" or traditional read-aloud method. They especially enjoy the \"British accent\" audio—it's something different, and it allows them to follow along with greater ease. I also have students complete \"during reading\" questions and pause frequently to check for understanding.\r\n\r\nI would say that students who are familiar with Orwell's work are enjoying the book. I also have some reluctant readers who engage more with the audio and \"lock in\" when it's time to read. For that, I am truly grateful.\r\n\r\nMahalo for your donation!","fullyFundedDate":1764598442939,"projectUrl":"project/growing-readers-building-critical-think/9847260/","projectTitle":"Growing Readers, Building Critical Thinkers: Our Classroom Revolution","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Fuller","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10323471_orig.jpg?crop=1200,1200,x0,y152&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1761122136038","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10323471"},{"teacherId":9711946,"projectId":10077095,"letterContent":"Because of your generosity, our band room is functioning at a higher level every single day. The new mouthpiece brushes, Korg tuners, trombone case, and cymbal travel bag are already making a meaningful difference in how my students rehearse, care for their instruments, and take pride in their musicianship.\r\n\r\nWe immediately put the mouthpiece brushes and Korg tuners into daily use. Where some students now have a tuner to use during each practice session, and a mouthpiece brush to clean as needed. Students now clean their mouthpieces regularly as part of our classroom routine, reinforcing healthy habits and personal responsibility. During rehearsal, students use the tuners to check pitch independently before we begin full ensemble work. This has transformed our warm-ups — instead of waiting for me to tell them they're sharp or flat, they actively listen, adjust, and take ownership of their sound. One powerful moment was watching a sixth grader confidently adjust their slide position after checking the tuner and hearing the pitch lock in with the ensemble. That independence is exactly what we strive for.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, students were genuinely excited. The percussionists were especially thrilled to see the new cymbal travel bag — it immediately elevated how they store and transport equipment for performances. Our trombone student who received the new case felt an incredible sense of pride and relief knowing their instrument now has reliable protection. It may seem simple, but having proper equipment tells students that their work matters.\r\n\r\nNext, we are applying these resources toward refining our tone and intonation as we prepare for upcoming performances. We are currently focusing on blend and balance in ensemble literature, and the consistent use of tuners is helping students understand how their individual pitch affects the full group sound. As we move forward, students will continue developing listening skills, instrument care routines, and performance readiness — skills that extend far beyond the band room.\r\n\r\nThank you for investing in both the musicianship and responsibility of these young performers.
