The supplies and tools I am requesting are for the students to use in creating their own model of a double hulled canoe (or seaworthy vessel of their own design), which will be built and tested during the fourth quarter. In addition to designing and building their vessels in class, the plastic sheeting will be used to build a temporary pool for them to test and evaluate the seaworthiness of their models. Data collected will be used calculate the scale speed and cargo capacity of their models, and ultimately, the students will make a determination if their design and construction would, if built to full scale, be successful in a thousand mile, open ocean journey.
