These microscopes are replacing some old ones that have scratched lenses, a bit of corrosion, and do not have mechanical/adjustable stages. My students were so excited when the microscopes arrived and we put them to use right away. They noticed how much easier they were to use than some of our old ones. The new microscopes have adjustable stages, which help tremendously in the process of finding what we are trying to focus on when looking at slides of cells and human tissues. The fear of public speaking is a real hurdle for many, but the addition of a projector and screen has transformed our classroom into a safe and dynamic space for practice. What once felt like a daunting performance now feels more like a rehearsal. Students are no longer just standing in front of the class; they're stepping onto a stage, using visuals to bring their stories and ideas to life.\r\n\r\nThe projector and screen are more than just tools; they are powerful learning aids that directly address common public speaking anxieties. For students who feel exposed and nervous, having a screen to focus on can be a tremendous help. Instead of just facing a sea of faces, they can use their presentations as a guide and a visual anchor.\r\n\r\nThis technology allows them to practice with real-world relevance. By integrating visuals, they are learning how to create engaging presentations, a skill they'll use in future careers and academics. They can rehearse their timing, see how their slides flow, and make adjustments in real time. This process helps them build self-awareness, as they can review their presentations and identify areas for growth, from their posture to their vocal tone.\r\n\r\nWhat excites the students most is the creative freedom the projector provides. It allows them to transform their ideas into something tangible and visually compelling. Instead of just talking about a topic, they can show it. One student passionate about their culture, used a slideshow of family photos to tell their personal story. This visual element shifts the focus from their nerves to the power of their message.\r\n\r\nAnother student, who is a talented artist but has difficulty with verbal communication, used the screen to display a series of her paintings. She used her artwork as a visual script, and her nervousness dissolved as she spoke with pride about each piece. The projector and screen gave these students a new way to connect with their audience, turning their weaknesses into strengths.\r\n\r\nYour donation has done more than just provide a projector and screen; it has given my students a platform to find their voices and shine.","fullyFundedDate":1741955277230,"projectUrl":"project/shining-light-on-confidence-public-spea/9157396/","projectTitle":"Shining Light on Confidence: Public Speaking & SEL in Action!","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Yamamoto","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9470513_orig.jpg?crop=3594,3594,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1713924590807","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9470513"},{"teacherId":5464226,"projectId":9171582,"letterContent":"I submitted this project in anticipation of next year when I will have a new diverse crew of 10th graders.
