As their new teacher this year, I set a goal to change that. I am happy to share that within the first half of the year, students have completed two dissections, one of which used supplies donated by you.\r\n\r\nWe secured dogfish sharks and conducted dissections of the specimens. Students used standard laboratory tools, including scalpels, forceps, and probes, to examine and learn the anatomy of the animals while treating the specimens with care and respect. Despite living in Hawaii, this was the students' first experience working with this type of animal.\r\n\r\nStudents were prepared months in advance and showed strong engagement and anticipation. Your support immediately transformed our digital storytelling. When the box arrived, the students reacted with pure, focused excitement—it was the first time many of them held a dedicated piece of high-quality recording technology that was exclusively theirs to use. Most importantly, the new SD cards immediately solved our biggest bottleneck, meaning the students now spend less time waiting and more time creating high-quality content.\r\n\r\nThe new resources are already fundamental to our current project. We are using the donated materials as the primary capture device for close-up interviews, relying on its superior quality to teach professional interview and framing techniques. The new SD cards ensure a seamless workflow, allowing quick transfer of large video files to our editing stations, enabling students to manage footage like true media professionals. We are currently moving into the post-production phase, where students will master professional editing, audio mastering, and finally, publish their completed interviews on the school's media channel for the entire community. Your donation has empowered our students to approach complex tasks with confidence and skill. Other students are even more careful now to keep their phone in their backpack for the duration of class.\r\n\r\nClass discussions and participation have improved at the beginning of the year and I hope it continues through the year. There is a balance of reading independently and as a group to practice pronunciation, which is helpful when learning new medical vocabulary.
