One project that really brought everything to life was a hands-on research and presentation activity. Students worked in small groups to explore a topic, using the new materials to gather information, organize their ideas, and create visual displays. It was incredible to see how much more engaged they were; having access to these tools made the process feel more real and meaningful to them.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the materials, their reactions said it all—wide eyes, big smiles, and lots of \"Can we start now?\" moments. Many of them immediately began flipping through everything, asking questions, and sharing ideas with their classmates. That initial excitement carried straight into their work, and I noticed even some of my quieter students becoming more involved and confident.\r\n\r\nAs we move forward, students will be building on this momentum by diving deeper into their projects. The next steps include refining their research, strengthening their presentations, and practicing how to clearly communicate their ideas to an audience. We're also working on collaboration and feedback, so students can learn from one another and improve their work along the way.\r\n\r\nYour support has truly made a difference—not just in what we can do, but in how students feel about learning. Through these books, my students are learning the vocabulary to identify their feelings, the steps for conflict resolution, and the importance of empathy and friendship.\r\n\r\nIn our classroom, reading time has transformed into \"social problem-solving\" time. We now start our mornings with a read-aloud session where we discuss how a character might be feeling or what they could do differently in a difficult situation. Instead of simply reading a story, we stop to ask, \"What would you do if you were in this friend's shoes?\" This has helped my students move from reacting to challenges impulsively to thinking through their responses.\r\n\r\nThese books have given my students a \"mirror\" to see themselves and a \"window\" to understand the experiences of others, making our classroom a kinder and more supportive place to learn.","fullyFundedDate":1773878870525,"projectUrl":"project/books-to-problem-solve-social-situations/10141404/","projectTitle":"Books to Problem Solve Social Situations","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Crawford","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp2627844_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1448370605920","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mscrawford2jqs"},{"teacherId":10189068,"projectId":9988551,"letterContent":"Thank you for supporting my classroom project! My classroom received a set of 6 colorful stools and headphones from this project. \r\n\r\nWhen students first saw the stools, they were already excited to use them. Students pull them up to their classmates' desks for partner work. Many students have a favorite chair color, and some prefer to sit on the stools over their desk chairs! At the end of the school day, students volunteer to help me stack the chairs (in rainbow order!). The stools are well-loved by the entire class, and I am so grateful to have them in my classroom. \r\n\r\nThe headphones have also been integral for our class. Across all grade levels, students have been creating self-portraits using the tempera paints, drawing paper, gem stickers, and glue, exploring color mixing, experimenting with texture, and making artwork they are genuinely proud of. It's been a joy to watch each child bring their own personality to the project while building real skills in observation, fine motor control, and creative decision-making.\r\n\r\nThe excitement doesn't stop here. My 4th graders are looking forward to using looms to weave hanging art pieces, building patience and focus through a new medium.
