We are using the Chicka Chicka Boom Boom book during read-alouds, the felt coconut tree and letter pieces during small groups and literacy centers, and the Toniebox with the Chicka Chicka Boom Boom character to allow students to listen to the story independently. One memorable moment was watching students take turns placing felt letters on the coconut tree while excitedly naming each letter and cheering as the letters \"boom boom\" fell down—students who often struggle with engagement were fully involved and eager to participate.\r\n\r\nWhen my students first saw the materials, they were thrilled. Many immediately recognized the story and were excited to touch the felt letters and explore the Toniebox. The combination of visual, tactile, and auditory learning helped students feel confident and motivated, especially those who benefit from multi-sensory instruction.\r\n\r\nBecause of your generosity, the next steps for my students include strengthening letter recognition, matching uppercase and lowercase letters, and building early letter-sound connections. The multicolor writing pads have also given students a designated space for quick writes, exit tickets, and goal work, helping them stay organized and focused during both reading and math lessons.\r\n\r\nThe classroom organization tools from this project have made a bigger impact than you might expect. The marker holder and metal pen cups have helped students access supplies independently, which keeps our transitions calm and efficient - critical in a resource room where every minute counts. The primary writing notebooks have been an incredible support - my students now cut and paste their graphic organizers directly into their own notebooks, which means nothing gets lost during transitions. They love having their own personal notebook and especially enjoyed picking out their favorite colors. We even created a table of contents in each notebook, which has helped them understand text features in such a fun and meaningful way. They are now confidently pointing out the table of contents in other books. Watching them know where each step of writing is (all in their notebook) has truly been a dream for me as a teacher. I cannot wait to see their progress by the end of the year - and to point out their progress to them! Our new triangular pencils have also made a huge difference for grip and handwriting. You have provided so much that students are asking to take some back to their desk and I can say of course!! The pencils are so good for them and they love to use them. \r\n\r\nMy younger students are absolutely thriving with the Play-Doh sets and counting mats. They think they're \"just playing,\" but they're building fine motor skills, number sense, and early math foundations without even realizing it. The science viewers have also become a student favorite, they spark curiosity, encourage conversation, and give my students a hands-on way to explore animals and the world around them. The new bookshelf helps keep everything accessible and organized, making our space feel calmer and more inviting. Thank you so much for giving my students tools that support independence, joy, confidence, and meaningful learning every single day.","fullyFundedDate":1761921518931,"projectUrl":"project/tools-to-help-young-minds-shine/9763958/","projectTitle":"Tools to Help Young Minds Shine!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Marin","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9467146_orig.png?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1707785277685","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/marin"},{"teacherId":9467146,"projectId":9511066,"letterContent":"When our new file folders, organizers, and classroom supplies arrived, my students were immediately excited to see how bright, colorful, and inviting everything looked. These materials have completely transformed the way we manage our daily routines, especially for my students IEPs, IEPs @ Glances, progress monitoring, and all other things! My kiddos have thrived with the visual structure and clear organization support. We now use the hanging file folders and vertical wall organizers to sort individualized work, center materials, AR books, and goal-tracking sheets. One of my favorite moments was watching a student proudly walk up to the new file center, find her color-coded folder independently, and say, \"I know exactly where my goal work is now!\" That small moment of independence is exactly why these resources matter.\r\n\r\nThese materials are already making a real difference in our classroom workflow. Students stay more focused because everything they need is accessible, labeled, and within reach. Our current projects like literacy centers, math centers, and writing goal work run more smoothly now that each group's materials are organized and ready to go. As we continue moving through the year, students will be using these systems daily to access their goal work, hands-on materials, resources they can take to their gen ed classroom, and track their progress toward reading, writing, math, behavior, and social goals.
