Before this project was funded, our classroom was completely rug-less. During read-alouds and independent reading time, my students would often ask if they could sit or even lay down on the hard wood floors just to get comfortable. Thanks to your generosity, we were able to add a large, beautiful rug to our classroom library and calm-down corner, creating a space that feels much more comfortable, welcoming, and like it truly belongs to them.\r\n\r\nOur new rug will quickly become a favorite spot in the classroom. Students can get cozy during read-alouds, find a comfortable place to enjoy a book during independent reading, or use the space when they are experiencing big emotions and need a few minutes to calm down and reset before returning to learning. Something as simple as having a soft place to sit will help make our classroom feel warmer and more inviting.\r\n\r\nThe best part is that this gift will extend far beyond just one school year. My current 4th graders get to enjoy this space now, and my rising 4th graders, and many classes after them, will continue to benefit from it for years to come. These are a great alternative to their phones or laptops in order to keep them busy.
