We received two feet of snow across much of the state but my students were able to stay warm and safe with the gloves and jackets you help to provide for them. Because of you, my kindergarten students now have access to high-quality decodable readers that are already making a powerful impact on their early reading journey.\r\n\r\nWe are using these new books every day during our phonics and small-group reading time. One especially meaningful moment happened during a recent lesson on short vowel sounds. A student who often feels hesitant during reading eagerly raised their hand and said, \"I can read this one by myself!\" With the decodable reader in front of them, they carefully sounded out each word and successfully read the entire book independently. Moments like this build confidence, excitement, and a true belief that they are readers.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the books, their faces lit up. They immediately noticed that the stories were \"just right\" for them. The books are full of words they could actually read on their own. Many students flipped through the pages and asked if they could take them home to read to their families. The joy and pride they felt was truly unforgettable.\r\n\r\nBecause of your support, our next steps are even more exciting. Students are now using these decodable readers to practice rereading for fluency, identifying phonics patterns we've learned, and responding to texts through drawing and simple writing. We are also beginning to send these books home so families can be part of their child's reading growth. Each book helps strengthen foundational skills that will support students as they move toward more complex reading and comprehension.\r\n\r\nThank you for giving my students the gift of confidence, independence, and a strong start as readers. Your generosity has opened the door to countless \"I can read!\" moments, and we are so grateful for your support.","fullyFundedDate":1749691954641,"projectUrl":"project/unlocking-literacy-with-decodable-books/9400752/","projectTitle":"Unlocking Literacy With Decodable Books","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Jessica","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9292087_orig.jpg?crop=665,665,x2,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1749230185031","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9292087"},{"teacherId":9356785,"projectId":9403591,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous donations to our classroom.
