These engaging, age-appropriate texts have opened a whole new world of learning for my students. Each issue helps us practice important reading skills such as identifying the main idea, finding key details, making text-to-self connections, and learning new vocabulary in context. The nonfiction topics also spark curiosity and encourage students to ask thoughtful questions about the world around them—skills that are essential for building strong readers and thinkers.\r\n\r\nIn our classroom, reading Time for Kids has become a favorite part of the week. Students gather in small groups to read, discuss, and annotate the articles using highlighters and sticky notes. We focus on using text features like headings, captions, and diagrams to deepen comprehension, and students love sharing their \"wow facts\" during class discussions. The colorful visuals and current, real-world topics make reading come alive in ways that traditional texts sometimes can't.\r\n\r\nSome of my students who were previously reluctant readers are now eagerly flipping through the pages as soon as new issues arrive. One student in particular, who used to struggle to stay engaged during reading, now proudly shares facts about science and animals from Time for Kids with classmates. It's inspiring to see their excitement grow as they realize that reading isn't just something we do in school—it's a way to explore and understand the world. The students are loving the games and the beanbag chairs have gotten lots of use! \r\n\r\nWhen my students first enter the room, they are usually highly escalated and want to destroy things, but with all the things that can distract them and calm them, they tend to not destroy and ask lots of questions, like when did you get this game? Can we play it again? Before students would take a lot of time calming themselves, but they feel safe and are ready to get back to learning.\r\n\r\nWE all appreciate the donations, even the teachers who come to my room are amazed with how zen like it is! This not only enhances their academic growth but also fosters important social and emotional skills, such as collaboration, curiosity, and self-expression.\r\n\r\nMost importantly, donations show students that their education is valued and supported by a caring community.
