In particular, I was able to order a new set of reading books at the fourth grade reading level to challenge my students. These novels are all set in a national park, which offers a lesson in US geography while we follow along with the main character as he/she solves the mystery. We are able to use maps and digital resources to research the national parks, so we are able to build a background and familiarize ourselves with the setting of each novel. The students are working in small groups of 3-4 so each child gets the opportunity to read aloud to their peers and work on fluency, pacing, and prosody. \r\n Another great gift you gave us was a new set of headphones with built-in microphones. We work everyday on i-Ready reading/math, so the ability to block classroom noises and concentrate on our own lessons is very important. The new headphones offer each student the ability to listen more intently and learn more, filling their gaps from previous learning. The storage bags and electric stapler are helping us keep our classroom materials and student work organized, which gives students more independence and helps our learning time run more smoothly. The math manipulatives have been especially exciting because students can physically move, build, and model their thinking instead of trying to visualize every concept in their heads.\r\n\r\nWhen my students first saw the new materials, their excitement was contagious! They were eager to explore the math tools and immediately began asking questions about how we would use them.
