Our digital resources are key to successful learning. They allow the students to work at their own learning level for reading, math, science, listening, speaking, and writing - independent work that reinforces their mastered skills while presenting the next level. But, imagine a classroom of 32 5th graders all doing independent work on Chromebooks at the same time. Some are listening, some are trying to concentrate on their task, and some are trying to speak along with their program and be recorded. Add to this picture a teacher working at a smaller table with a group of 6 students, all trying to concentrate on this intervention activity. I am asking for help to acquire headphones for my class to create a quiet learning environment for all of my students. My ELL students need to speak and be recorded by their Imagine Learning program. My low fluency students need to practice reading fluently aloud with their Wonders program. My students need to be able to listen to a math lesson with explanation and practice with their iReady program. Distractions from other students' Chromebooks lessen the value of what they are attempting to accomplish. Thank you for any assistance you can provide my students. The in-line microphones help in headphone storage and provides a longer life on the microphone piece (in my past experience anyway). Students will be using these headphones for years to come - not just these 32 I have the honor of working with this year!
