All three novels chosen (Esperanza Rising, Zane and the Hurricane, and Wonder help students to connect to the challenges of others and how to persevere in the eyes of multicultural diversity in numerous, thought provoking ways. They are taught resilience and how to rise above things that are out of their control to be triumphant and illicit positive change locally. We will use the Literature Circle model to explore the story and to understand literary elements, vocabulary, summarizing, making visual connections, and working as a group to discuss the reading daily.

About my class
