My Pre-K students were absolutely thrilled when we opened the box of new classroom materials. Their faces lit up with excitement as they explored the magnetic boards, new reading tools, and our life cycle and STEM activities.\r\n\r\nOne of my favorite moments happened during our small-group literacy time. Several students immediately gravitated toward the magnetic boards and began arranging letters to spell their names. For many of them, this was the first time they independently recognized letters and connected them to sounds. It was such a proud moment—and it happened because of you.\r\n\r\nWe also used the new life cycle materials during our science center. The students loved sequencing the stages of a butterfly and discussing what happens \"before\" and \"after.\" Their curiosity and enthusiasm made our classroom buzz with learning. During STEM time, the hands-on materials helped students build, explore, and problem-solve together in ways that boosted teamwork and confidence.\r\n\r\nYour contribution didn't just fill our room with materials—it filled it with possibilities. As our next steps, we will continue using these resources during reading groups, science investigations, and weekly STEM challenges. These tools help our youngest learners build strong foundational skills that will follow them into kindergarten and beyond.\r\n\r\nThank you for believing in our little classroom and for giving my students the chance to grow, explore, and shine.","fullyFundedDate":1763567474284,"projectUrl":"project/stem-prekinder/9732873/","projectTitle":"STEM Prekinder","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Butler","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9470330_orig.jpg?crop=480,480,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1717116809073","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9470330"},{"teacherId":10213842,"projectId":9638547,"letterContent":"Thank you for your generous donation of a wheelchair to our elementary school. What began as a shift away from traditional desks has grown into a student-centered, choice-driven space where children feel comfortable, confident, and excited to learn. This change has not only improved academic engagement but has also supported the social-emotional needs of my students, many of whom require movement, freedom, and a sense of ownership in their learning environment.\r\n\r\nOne of the most immediate impacts I noticed after implementing flexible seating was a significant increase in student engagement. When students have the opportunity to choose where and how they learn best—whether it's on a wobble stool, a cushioned floor seat, an office chair, or a low table—they become more active participants in their education. I no longer see students shifting uncomfortably in hard chairs or struggling to stay focused because their bodies need movement. Instead, I see students who are settled, alert, and prepared to take on academic challenges. Giving students agency in their seating has empowered them to take responsibility for their learning, and that sense of ownership shows up in their effort, motivation, and perseverance.\r\n\r\nFlexible seating has also encouraged collaboration and improved classroom community. Students feel more connected when they can gather naturally in spaces that support discussion, teamwork, and shared problem-solving. The variety of seating options allows them to work with partners or small groups fluidly, without the limitations of static, traditional desks. I frequently see students moving to a cozy corner to read together, choosing office chairs for partner writing, or sitting at floor tables to tackle a math task as a team. These organic moments of collaboration have strengthened peer relationships and improved communication skills, creating a positive and supportive classroom culture.\r\n\r\nAnother major benefit has been the support flexible seating provides for students with unique needs. Several of my students struggle with attention, sensory regulation, or anxiety. Having options like wobble stools, fidget-friendly seating, and quiet, secluded spots has made a noticeable difference in their ability to participate successfully. Students who once had difficulty remaining seated are now using movement-friendly chairs that help them stay focused. Students who feel overwhelmed by noise or activity can choose a calm corner where they feel safe and grounded. The flexibility to meet these diverse needs has greatly reduced behavior challenges and increased student confidence.\r\n\r\nFinally, flexible seating has made our classroom feel like a welcoming second home—a place my students are proud of and excited to walk into each morning. The environment feels warm, comfortable, and designed with children in mind. When students feel physically at ease, emotionally supported, and trusted to make choices, they thrive. I see that every single day.\r\n\r\nFlexible seating has truly enriched the learning experience in my classroom. It has increased engagement, strengthened our classroom community, supported students with diverse needs, and helped create a joyful space where every child feels valued. The impact has been profound, and I am grateful for the opportunity to continue fostering a learning environment that puts students first.","fullyFundedDate":1755729273387,"projectUrl":"project/feeling-flexible-and-focused/9489952/","projectTitle":"Feeling Flexible and Focused!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Howell","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-2_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10088542"},{"teacherId":9476805,"projectId":9322967,"letterContent":"From the bottom of my heart, I would like to thank you for your support and generosity. We use the clear plastic sheet for small group to complete worksheets. We also used the Play-Doh during our multiplications unit to create Arrays. The plastic bins have helped us keep our cubbies organized and neat. The water bottles allow students to stay hydrated and not waste precious instruction time by going to the water fountain. \r\nThank you for everything! Students are using the materials to take on roles, build stories together, and practice real-world language in imaginative ways. One of our favorite moments so far was during our \"Community Helpers\" unit—students immediately turned the dramatic play center into a working vet clinic, complete with appointment scheduling, pet check-ups, and teamwork that felt so natural for them. It was incredible to see how confidently they used the new props to bring their ideas to life.\r\n\r\nWhen my students first saw the materials, their faces absolutely lit up. Many of them gasped, pointed, and immediately asked if they could explore everything. They dove right in—trying on costumes, using the tools, and working together to create little storylines. Their excitement and engagement showed just how much this project meant to them.\r\n\r\nOur next steps involve expanding these dramatic play scenarios into structured learning opportunities. Students will begin using vocabulary cards, simple writing templates, and role-play prompts to connect their play to literacy and social-emotional goals. Thanks to these new resources, they're ready to build stronger language skills, collaborate more deeply, and continue transforming their imaginations into learning every single day.","fullyFundedDate":1715822345953,"projectUrl":"project/dramatic-play-in-a-purposeful-way/8392167/","projectTitle":"Dramatic Play in a Purposeful Way!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Bowen","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7729934_orig.jpg?crop=1242,1242,x0,y567&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1752613507384","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7729934"},{"teacherId":7942381,"projectId":9406399,"letterContent":"We are absolutely thrilled and deeply grateful for your generous support of our kindergarten classroom's hydroponic garden grant!
