This has helped transitions between activities run much more smoothly and has allowed students to stay focused and engaged in their learning.\r\n\r\nThe cubbies have also encouraged independence and responsibility among my kindergarten students. They are learning how to take care of shared materials, keep their workspace tidy, and return items to the correct place when finished. These are important life skills that support both academic success and social development.\r\n\r\nHaving organized and accessible materials has created a calmer and more efficient classroom environment. The black table cloths matched my black bulletin boards and chair pockets to establish a more visually appealing classroom. Just the right amount of a pop of color. Additionally, there have been several instances this year that my parents will supply messy foods for an impromptu party without supplies. I can't tell you how many times I was thankful for those paper towels and Clorox wipes. I had absolutely no stress about my students enjoying the food, especially since we don't have a sink.\r\n\r\nOh my goodness! The Bristlebots and Solar Bugs! A teacher's favorite moment is when a student is so focused, and then their mind goes \"Ah-ha!\" My scholars were so ecstatic to tackle both STEM projects. While analyzing how to put the bristlebot together, one student yelled, \"Ms. Curtis, I felt something move!\" Soon after that, most of the kids experienced the same. The solar bugs tested their patience while outside on the blacktop lol. I encouraged them to be engineers and solve their problem, especially since a handfull of students were able to get their bugs to move. The class begin asking other students questions, and all you can see is an outdoor lab of trial and error with unexpected teamwork. It's one thing to talk about circuits, but it's another thing to see a bug you built start buzzing across the ground, especially after failing a few times.
