The black table cloths matched my black bulletin boards and chair pockets to establish a more visually appealing classroom. Just the right amount of a pop of color. Additionally, there have been several instances this year that my parents will supply messy foods for an impromptu party without supplies. I can't tell you how many times I was thankful for those paper towels and Clorox wipes. I had absolutely no stress about my students enjoying the food, especially since we don't have a sink.\r\n\r\n​Oh my goodness! The Bristlebots and Solar Bugs! A teacher's favorite moment is when a student is so focused, and then their mind goes \"Ah-ha!\" My scholars were so ecstatic to tackle both STEM projects. While analyzing how to put the bristlebot together, one student yelled, \"Ms. Curtis, I felt something move!\" Soon after that, most of the kids experienced the same. The solar bugs tested their patience while outside on the blacktop lol. I encouraged them to be engineers and solve their problem, especially since a handfull of students were able to get their bugs to move. The class begin asking other students questions, and all you can see is an outdoor lab of trial and error with unexpected teamwork. It's one thing to talk about circuits, but it's another thing to see a bug you built start buzzing across the ground, especially after failing a few times. The books, Stacey's Extraordinary Words and Jerry Changed the Game!, provided the foundation the students needed to be resilient. \r\n\r\n​Thank you for giving us the tools to keep our classroom organized, clean, and inspired. During a recent binder-organization lesson, I guided students step-by-step through setting up their materials, and they could easily access everything they needed without frustration. This simple system has helped build student independence and accountability, allowing our classroom to run more efficiently and giving us more time to focus on instruction.\r\n\r\nMy students were immediately excited when they saw the new materials—they couldn't wait to get organized! Many of them took ownership right away, carefully arranging their pouches and showing pride in their space. We have had so much fun using the musical instruments. So far we have had a Lunar day parade, an upper grade field day parade and multiple musical Fundays. During our musical Fundays we get to choose any instrument and try to create a new or similar instrument. We have designed some cool musical instruments on these days. We have made drums using recycled toilet paper rolls and paper towel rolls. We have created a station where we test out the different bell sounds. We are designing an area in our outdoor playground where we can safely make music using sticks and other items to listen for new sounds. They like to use the outdoor benches during this activity. \r\nWe love to use the new books to help us research the different types of musical instruments that we learned about in music class this Fall season. I am encouraged because our scholars love to develop their musical ear with all these new resources. Thanks for thinking of our community.
