They organized donations, sorted snacks into labeled bins, created simple systems for restocking, and made sure anyone who needed something felt comfortable taking it. Watching them step into leadership roles with such compassion has been incredible.\r\nThe snack station quickly became more than just a place for food. It has turned into a space of care and connection. Students quietly grab what they need, and many have even helped pack extra snacks for classmates to take home or share in the community. Adding the headphones transformed the area into a calm corner where students can listen to storybooks while enjoying their snack. It's been beautiful to see nourishment and literacy come together in such a natural way.\r\nMost importantly, this project empowered students to see that they can be the helpers. They recognized a problem, took action, and are continuing to maintain the station with pride. While many of our donors enjoy reading themselves, these books do so much more than simply entertain — they help teach important literacy skills such as character development, point of view, theme, summarizing, and making text-to-self connections. Students practice discussing character traits, identifying problems and solutions, and analyzing how characters respond to challenges. The series also opens the door to meaningful conversations about friendship, responsibility, empathy, and growing up.\r\n In our classroom, reading looks like students fully engaged — reading independently, participating in small group discussions, recommending books to one another, and eagerly waiting for the next turn with a favorite title. I've seen particular students who were previously hesitant readers become excited and motivated because they connect with the relatable characters and realistic storylines. Some students who struggled to find books they enjoyed are now asking to read ahead in the series and even discussing the books during free time. These books have truly helped build a stronger reading community in our classroom and have increased both confidence and enthusiasm for reading.","fullyFundedDate":1768700425483,"projectUrl":"project/bringing-back-a-classic-the-baby-sitter/9761046/","projectTitle":"Bringing Back a Classic: The Baby-Sitters Club Lives On","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Leonard","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9347773_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1710374872234","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9347773"},{"teacherId":9347773,"projectId":9904400,"letterContent":"The new color printer is making a big difference in how students share and present their learning. Being able to print projects in color allows students to clearly display charts, diagrams, images, and important details that are harder to see in black and white. It also allows us to showcase student work in the hallways in a way that truly reflects the effort and creativity they put into their projects.\r\n\r\nStudents are especially excited to see their hard work come to life in color.
