We used the glue guns & glue sticks during our Junk Jam on March 19, 2026. \r\n Anticipation gradually built as I brought items in to the classroom: boxes large & small, pen caps, plastic containers, tiny pie tins, pipe cleaners, & miscellaneous art supplies, to name a few. Students were eager for the day to arrive.\r\n Not gonna lie: I was nervous as heck that the room would get noisy & rowdy, but I was pleasantly surprised. Lots of creative conversations & problem-solving situations were observed. Thank you again for your part in this!","fullyFundedDate":1771873426420,"projectUrl":"project/junk-jam/10077204/","projectTitle":"Junk Jam!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Shields","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-8_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10426314"},{"teacherId":9856680,"projectId":9647798,"letterContent":"I wanted to take a moment to share the impact your generous gift of retro games has had on my classroom this winter.\r\n\r\nMy students were incredibly excited to receive such a large collection of games that everyone could participate in. We have been using them regularly in our classroom, and they have become a wonderful learning tool. Through these games, students are practicing teamwork, spelling, counting, and problem-solving skills.\r\n\r\nPerhaps the most valuable learning has been social. Students are learning how to take turns, work cooperatively, and practice both winning and losing graciously. While some students initially struggled with these skills, it has been amazing to watch their growth. Over time, they have developed the ability to play together for 30–45 minutes, enjoy the experience, and support one another during the game.\r\n\r\nGame days have quickly become one of the highlights of our classroom. Students truly look forward to the opportunity to play with different classmates and spend time building friendships.\r\n\r\nSoon, my class will even have the opportunity to take some of the games to younger students and teach them how to play. This will allow them to practice leadership and experience what it feels like to be the \"teacher.\"\r\n\r\nThe words thank you hardly seem enough to express the joy, social growth, and learning you have provided for my students—both now and for many classes to come. Your generosity has made a lasting difference.","fullyFundedDate":1766500347483,"projectUrl":"project/rolling-toward-awareness-building-soci/9647798/","projectTitle":"“Rolling Toward Awareness: Building Social Skills Through Retro Board Games”","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Thomson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-1_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9856680"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_88473","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":446,"numTeachers":31,"percentFrplEligible":64,"percentAsian":2,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":57,"percentIndigenous":1,"percentLatinx":35,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"14.4:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"TOWN","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_FRINGE"},"inStateSupporters":76.9,"schoolId":88473,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Grandhaven Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Grandhaven Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/oregon/mcminnville-school-district-40/grandhaven-elementary-school/88473"}
