I've noticed a huge difference in both productivity and student engagement. The visual timer has become one of my most used tools. It helps my students see how much time they have left to work, and it takes the stress out of transitions. The incentives have also made a wonderful impact for positive reinforcement of daily expectations. One of the most transformative changes has been the addition of the light coverings on our ceiling. These materials have opened up opportunities for exploration, collaboration, creativity, and critical thinking every day. From observing plant and animal parts up close with our talking microscope to examining different items in our various specimen tubs, students are developing their curiosity about the natural world and learning to describe what they see using scientific vocabulary.\r\nThe STEAM tubs have also encouraged imaginative and collaborative play. Students love building cabins and towers with Lincoln Logs, which has sparked conversations about design, balance, and problem-solving. Our play kitchen materials have become a favorite, with students mimicking a real restaurant—taking orders, preparing meals, calculating cost, charging customers (usually me!), and serving food. These real-world role-playing scenarios are helping them practice social interaction, math skills, and sequencing in a meaningful context. \r\nOur fun logic game, Rush Hour, has added an element of challenge that students are excited to tackle, strengthening their reasoning and perseverance. It is so great to hear them work together and discuss their moves as they try to free their car from a gridlocked parking lot!\r\nYour donation has truly made a difference in bringing joyful, meaningful learning to life for my first graders!
