Before this project was funded, our printers had become little more than expensive paperweights. We had the machines, but without filament, students could only watch as their digital designs stayed trapped on a screen. Now, those designs are becoming real, physical objects, and the difference in our classroom energy is impossible to miss.\r\n\r\nWhat excites students most isn't just the printing itself, it's the full cycle of problem-solving. They design something in software, send it to the printer, hold the finished product in their hands, and immediately start asking \"what could I do differently?\" That kind of iterative thinking is exactly what engineers and designers do in the real world, and my students are living it. Many of them have never thought of themselves as \"tech people\" or \"makers,\" but watching something they imagined come to life has a way of changing that story quickly.","fullyFundedDate":1770907279220,"projectUrl":"project/ideas-you-can-hold-3d-printing-in-the-c/10091889/","projectTitle":"Ideas You Can Hold: 3D Printing in the Classroom","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Becca","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6815109_orig.jpg?crop=3537,3536,x0,y11&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1758811680292","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6815109"},{"teacherId":10304467,"projectId":9798556,"letterContent":"Our class has already jumped right into using the new resources, and they have made such a positive difference in our daily routines. One of my favorite moments so far happened during our literacy centers: students were able to choose a healthy snack before starting their reading tasks, and the calm focus that followed was incredible. It has become a small ritual that helps them transition smoothly and feel ready to learn. We've also started using the snacks during partner work, which has encouraged collaboration and made our classroom feel even more supportive and community-oriented.\r\n\r\nWhen my students first saw the materials, their faces absolutely lit up. Many of them excitedly pointed out the snacks they love at home while others were thrilled to try something new. It felt like a little celebration in our classroom—something just for them—and they proudly helped unload and organize everything. Their joy and gratitude were so genuine, and it was a beautiful reminder of how even small things can make a big impact on young learners.\r\n\r\nAs we continue our current units in reading and math, these snacks will play a helpful role in keeping our students engaged. Our next steps include beginning new small-group reading lessons, where stamina and focus are especially important for early readers. We're also about to start a project in our \"How We Organize Ourselves\" IB unit, where students explore how a community relies on its members. Having their needs met with healthy snacks helps them stay grounded and ready to participate fully in discussions, activities, and hands-on tasks.\r\n\r\nThank you again for supporting our classroom. Your generosity has shaped not just our routines, but the way our students feel cared for and supported each day. If you'd like, I can tailor this message further or turn it into a formatted thank-you note.","fullyFundedDate":1763494162182,"projectUrl":"project/healthy-snacks-healthy-minds/9798556/","projectTitle":"Healthy Snacks, Healthy Minds","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Lauren","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10304467"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_97820","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":447,"numTeachers":31,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":3,"percentBlack":82,"percentWhite":13,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":0,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"14.4:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":71.0,"schoolId":97820,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Global Academy on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Global Academy","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/minnesota/minnesota-department-of-education/global-academy/97820"}
