When the materials first arrived, I had some students help me bring up the boxes, and they were curious about what was inside them. Once I showed them and explained what we would use the materials for, their faces lit up with excitement. They appreciate that the charging station is portable and has a long cord to reach different students in the classroom. Students also really loved that new snacks were to be distributed for participating in class. \r\nWith the new color paper, I was able to print worksheets in color, which added some joy for students while they worked on their assignments. We added more color to our cut-and-paste activities, and I posted them on the walls to display their math work. As we come closer to the end of the school year, students will work on projects to demonstrate a recap of something important, something fascinating, and something new they learned this school year in math class, and I can't wait to see their final results using the latest materials they received. My students and I are very grateful to your generous donation to our classroom. Students are reading more than ever, exploring stories that reflect their identities, challenge their thinking, and spark their imagination.\r\n\r\nThese new texts have helped me introduce key reading skills like inference, theme analysis, and character development in a way that feels authentic and meaningful. For example, one student who used to struggle with engagement has been flying through a graphic novel from our new collection, using it to explore how authors use visual elements to convey tone and emotion. Another student who rarely participated in class discussions recently led a conversation about a character's moral choices in a contemporary YA novel—something I hadn't seen from them before.\r\n\r\nIn our classroom, reading is a blend of independent choice, book clubs, and whole-class discussion. With the addition of these titles, students now feel a stronger sense of ownership over their reading. They're more willing to try new genres, share recommendations with each other, and reflect deeply on what they're reading.\r\n\r\nThank you again for helping us grow a classroom library that truly supports both literacy and a love of reading. Your generosity has made room for every student to find a book that feels like it was meant for them.","fullyFundedDate":1744248382962,"projectUrl":"project/classroom-library-additions/9229946/","projectTitle":"Classroom Library Additions","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Hathaway","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp5801387_orig.png?crop=398,398,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1632155747570","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/hathaway"},{"teacherId":5801387,"projectId":8543420,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generous donations, our classroom is now stocked with essential personal hygiene products—everything from toothbrushes and toothpaste to deodorant, body wipes, and menstrual care supplies. These items are making a real difference in my students' daily lives, and I can't thank you enough.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials arrived, students were genuinely surprised—and deeply grateful. One student quietly said, \"This means I won't have to be embarrassed in gym class anymore.\" Another took a toothbrush and whispered, \"We needed this at home.\" These moments might seem small, but they reflect how your support helps students show up more confidently each day, ready to learn and participate fully.\r\n\r\nIn our classroom, we keep the items in an accessible but discreet spot, so students can take what they need without having to ask. This has helped foster a stronger sense of dignity, community, and care among everyone.\r\n\r\nRight now, we're connecting this project to a broader lesson on self-care and health literacy. Students are working on short reflective writing pieces about what it means to care for yourself—physically and emotionally—and how it impacts learning. This project has opened the door for meaningful conversations and real-world learning in a safe, supportive space.\r\n\r\nThank you again for making this possible.
