During remote learning, Cluster students participated in a virtual community based instruction (CBI). CBI has been shown to develop and exercise social and behavioral skills, familiarize students with their community, provide opportunities for generalization of skills to real world applications and increase student engagement. We are requesting assistant to purchase a GoPro camera so that we can continue to provide these valuable learning opportunities. During our community based instruction we target reading skills (functional reading of store signs, street signs, etc), writing skills (composing shopping lists) , financial literacy (identifying prices, comparison shopping, budgeting) as well as community safety skills. A GoPro would allow all students to access these valuable learning opportunities. While a small group of students would physically be out in the community with their teachers, a GoPro would allow us to livestream these CBI trips so that students still at school can participate.
