We've already begun using them in our lessons, and I've seen students participate more actively, take greater ownership of their work, and collaborate with one another in meaningful ways. Especially with markers and white boards! One moment that stood out was seeing students dive into group work with confidence and enthusiasm, using these materials to explore ideas and express themselves more deeply than before.\r\n\r\nAs we continue our current unit, students will be using these resources to develop more advanced skills, think critically, and create work they can truly be proud of. The No Fear Shakespeare books have helped break down the language barrier, allowing students to better understand the text while building confidence in their reading skills. Instead of feeling overwhelmed by the original language, they are now able to compare the modern translation and truly grasp the meaning behind the story.\r\n\r\nThe iPad has also become an essential tool for positive behavior support in our classroom. We are currently focusing on structured, multi-paragraph responses that require a clear thesis, text evidence, and thoughtful analysis. For many of my students, this level of writing pushes them outside of their comfort zones.\r\n\r\nWe use the treasures as part of our positive academic incentive system. Students earn points for completing drafts, revising their work, participating in peer editing, and staying engaged during writing workshops. The food treasures have been a powerful motivator, especially during the revision process, which can sometimes feel overwhelming.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, the excitement was immediate. Students began setting personal writing goals and asking what they could do to improve their drafts to earn more points. One moment that stood out was during a peer review session. Instead of rushing through feedback, students carefully read each other's essays and offered meaningful suggestions, reminding one another that thoughtful revisions would help them earn treasure points. The motivation shifted from \"I'm done\" to \"How can I make this stronger?\"\r\n\r\nThe next step in our writing unit is publishing final drafts and sharing them aloud with the class. Students will reflect on their growth from first draft to final piece, recognizing how persistence and revision strengthened their writing. They are learning how to navigate nonfiction with confidence—using headings, glossaries, captions, and indexes to deepen their understanding. More importantly, these books have sparked curiosity and encouraged students to ask thoughtful questions about the world around them.\r\n\r\nReading in our classroom has become more engaging and purposeful because of these resources. Students eagerly select books that match their interests and reading levels, whether they are exploring topics like science, history, animals, or current events. These books have also supported meaningful discussions and writing projects, allowing students to apply their learning in authentic ways.\r\n\r\nSeveral students have been especially excited by the new collection. I've seen students who usually struggle to focus stay locked into conversations because they're comfortable and able to move naturally. The Jolly Ranchers have also become a fun and positive incentive — whether it's celebrating a strong class discussion, encouraging participation, or recognizing improvement, those small moments of reward go a long way in building motivation and community.\r\n\r\nWhen the chairs first arrived, the excitement was immediate.
