While this project is for the yearbook class, the truth is this project will impact the entire school. The yearbook is how students remember the memories and adventures they had throughout the year. Not all of my yearbook students have cellphones that take quality pictures (some do not have cellphones), and we currently are working with only one camera. Even though we are attempting to capture all of the exciting adventures going on at our middle school one camera is just not enough. By supporting this project you are helping my students learn the importance of professionalism while also building a legacy to be remembered. This project is to get cameras into the hands of these middle school students so that they can take amazing photos. Some of these photos even have the opportunity to be entered into contests where the students can earn scholarships and exposure. When my students have the camera in their hand, instead of their cellphone, there is a change in their posture, their professionalism, their confidence. They recognize the importance of having high-quality equipment that shows they are serious about doing a good job and capturing the moments that make up middle school. This equipment not only allows us to take high-quality pictures but also provides the opportunity to expose students to potential careers as photographers, journalists, editors, and more.
