Having these simple comforts available also gives students a positive opportunity to take a brief break, reset, and return to learning ready to focus. The shelves have provided enough space for each student to complete their own plant project for the upcoming year! I am beyond thrilled that each student will be responsible for their own plant and will really be able to take ownership of their learning, experimentation, and the scientific process. I cannot wait to see how the space allows better access to all plants so students can easily collect data and monitor the growth of their plants throughout the year. This is my second year having students grow plants in class and each year I have been blessed with help from the community with making the projects bigger and better. I can tell a real difference in the growth of the plants for those that are using the newer lights provided from your donation! The students are truly excited when they come to class and can see differences in their plants each day, especially as they begin to flower and produce fruits. \r\nI cannot wait to continue the tradition next year and allow students the opportunity to learn more about growing food, but also be able to connect so many of the biology standards to their project. For example, the students were able to learn about sexual reproduction as some of their plants began to flower and grow. They could see in real time how photosynthesis works. When they forgot to water their plant and the leaves were wilting they could visualize osmosis in action. \r\nThis is one of my favorite projects and I think it is one that has been very beneficial to students and will continue to be into the future.","fullyFundedDate":1768409021471,"projectUrl":"project/photosynthesis-power/9901442/","projectTitle":"Photosynthesis Power","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Terrell","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8575338_orig.jpg?crop=512,512,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1746562955917","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/ms-t-plants"},{"teacherId":8575338,"projectId":9625991,"letterContent":"These materials have been such a hit with my students. When they have downtime they are able to keep themselves entertained, or engage with other students allowing increased communication and collaboration within the classroom. The games and materials are readily available within the classroom which gives students the opportunity to learn how to play new games they may not have been exposed to before. In science, being able to read and comprehend instructions is an extremely important skill and playing games is a great way for them to practice that skill in a way that does not seem like work for them. \r\n\r\nOne of the best things about this project is that I can use these materials for years and years allowing the donation to reach hundreds of students over time. The removal of cell phones from the classroom / school has been truly beneficial and I appreciate the donors that helped make that transition smoother for them and for teachers.","fullyFundedDate":1757529307930,"projectUrl":"project/board-gamesmore-like-when-youre-bore/9625991/","projectTitle":"Board Games...More Like When You're Bored Games...","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Terrell","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8575338_orig.jpg?crop=512,512,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1746562955917","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/ms-t-plants"},{"teacherId":10349742,"projectId":9894156,"letterContent":"The shirt folding boards have already made an immediate impact in my classroom. The students are becoming more and more comfortable using them and are actually becoming quite efficient using them. So often, the parents of Special Education students are so concerned about what their child will do after high school. What happens when that safety net of school is gone? How will they make a living? Having as many of these practical life skills is a vital ingredient to their life long success. \r\nThe impact of these folding boards is already transcending the classroom. I had a parent ask me in the pick-up line about why their daughter was taking such an interest in folding laundry and asked their mother \"Where is your blue board?\" The mother was so happy that these skills were being taught in the classroom and is ordering one for her daughter to have at home to help with choirs. \r\nSo many of the Special Education students nowadays have opportunities to work in the job force after high school. There is still a stigma that there is only the simplest of janitorial work for these students. Providing the students with the skills and the confidence to reach for such a higher working potential will have a lasting generational impact.","fullyFundedDate":1768413738872,"projectUrl":"project/help-special-education-students-learn-to/9894156/","projectTitle":"Help Special Education Students Learn to Fold Shirts!","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Danny","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-2_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10349742"},{"teacherId":8575338,"projectId":9332456,"letterContent":"These projects were such a hit for my students. Students were genuinely surprised that learning could look like this, and it created an energy in the room that carried throughout the entire class period.\r\n\r\nAs we move forward, we're incorporating these games into larger projects where students analyze strategies, connect gameplay to real-world business concepts, and even begin designing their own original board games.
