The bright color really adds to the welcoming environment I've tried to create in my modular classroom. When the carpet first arrived, the students go so excited. They set it up all by themselves and were already making rules on how to keep it clean (hope those rules stick!). \r\n\r\nWe've already begun using the new carpet. My first math lesson with the new carpet happened today. We worked with place value pieces in \"smarteners\" on the carpet. They loved building it, and they love playing with it. What especially pleased me was how a few of the older students helped the younger students follow the directions in the building of the house. That is exactly what I had hoped would happen. \r\nThe train has been a big hit, not only for our youngest students, but for our creative older students, as well. A couple days ago, we had students building a train track that led underneath several of our bookshelves and back out into the open. It was very clever. I loved it. Upon our return, I was able to share my experience with the students and show them the Lego Trevi Fountain along with pictures of the real fountain.
