DonorsChoose has really helped!\r\nMany of my older students are caught up in the series called \"Wings of Fire.\" This series was recently released in a graphic novel format. It is my hope that many students will be drawn to the graphic novels first, but will then graduate to read the original novels. We were also able to purchase an art book that teaches how to draw Wings of Fire pictures.\r\nWe were also able to build up areas of nonfiction with several new Science Comics books. These books are graphic novel books that teach about various topics such as cars, frogs, or rocks and minerals. Because kids love graphic novels, they are drawn to these books. I have had a former nurse take a look at the books and she was impressed. They are written on a 3rd grade level, but there was plenty of information that was new to me. At my age, I need to make sure we have plenty of good doctors and nurses ready to go in the future.
