Many of them began brainstorming how to organize and distribute the items in the most meaningful way. We turned this into a hands-on service learning project where students assembled hygiene kits, wrote kind notes to include in each one, and planned how to share them with local shelters, food pantries, and community centers.\r\n\r\nOne powerful moment came when a student said, \"We're not just learning, we're actually doing something that matters.\" That sense of purpose and compassion was felt throughout the classroom. Reading has become such an integral part of our classroom this year. Whenever they get chance my students are asking if they can go select a book from our new classroom library. They love getting to reread the books from their favorite series, continue on from what they may have at home, and discover new worlds within series they would have never thought to pick up before.\r\nMany of my students, whom are at a lower reading level love being able to find books that they can read and use to grow their skills. It helps them gain confidence in being able to read out loud in class, complete projects like the book reports we worked on in January, and overall meet some of the small goals they have set for themselves this year. My boys love reading the Dog Man series and comparing it to the movie they made, while my girls love both the Babysitters Club and Dork Diaries. They argue over who gets to read which ones and in which order they all share them.
