The Yoto Mini has introduced a level of independence I haven't seen before; my 16 little learners are so empowered by the ability to choose their own 'audio adventure' just by inserting a physical card. For my students from low-income households and those who are still developing their English vocabulary, being able to hear these stories read aloud while they follow along has been an incredible boost to their confidence and language skills.\r\n\r\nThe comfy high-back chair has truly anchored the space, providing a much-needed 'soft landing' for students who need a break from the high energy of a Pre-K classroom. I have watched students who typically struggle with sitting still settle into the chair, pop in a Yoto card, and stay completely focused for ten minutes or more. This chair provides the sensory support and physical boundaries that help my students self-regulate, turning their 'wiggles' into a state of calm, deep engagement with literature.\r\n\r\nThe most moving part of this project is seeing how much pride my students take in 'their' new space. Because these items are high-quality and modern, it sends a clear message to my kids that their learning and comfort are a priority. Your generosity has closed a resource gap and created a sanctuary where my students feel valued and excited to explore the world of books. You haven't just provided furniture and electronics; you've provided a peaceful retreat that has become the heart of our classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1768615253399,"projectUrl":"project/closing-the-literacy-gap-with-audio-magi/10010977/","projectTitle":"Closing the Literacy Gap With Audio Magic","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Becky","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8131386_orig.png?crop=465,465,x0,y32&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1646943165979","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8131386"},{"teacherId":9348946,"projectId":10017377,"letterContent":"In our Pre-K classroom, the Yoto Story Listeners have become popular during our \"Books and Journals\" time. They are great because they are screen-free and my PK kiddos can independently select a story and start listening without needing an adult to help them navigate. They also have many choices, so they can choose stories that fit their interests. A favorite moment was when two students took the headphones out and listened to the \r\n\r\nstory together, one held the Yoto while the other held the book, great teamwork! \r\nThe students were amazed when they saw the comfortable couch chair, they thought it was great that it can fold down into a bed! The children were drawn to its soft texture and using it as a safe place to go when they want to be alone. A favorite moment was when a student was still tired from rest time and went right to the couch and fell asleep! \r\n\r\nMy next steps are to get more books that match our Yoto stories so the students can \"read\" along and further improve their book concepts! Students recently completed a creative project on Carnaval, using the new technology to design masks, posters, and digital illustrations inspired by traditions from across the Spanish‑speaking world. The touchscreen has made it possible for students of all skill levels to experiment, revise, and express themselves in ways that weren't available to them before.\r\nWe are excited to continue using these tools as we move into our next cultural unit on Cinco de Mayo, where students will again blend language, history, and art to deepen their understanding of the world around them.\r\nYour generosity has opened doors for creativity, engagement, and cultural exploration in my classroom. Often times a teacher, despite their best planning, cannot anticipate a student's (particularly a special education or English language learner (EL) student) exact needs on a given a reading. It is tremendously helpful if a teacher has the ability to react to the student's needs as the lesson proceeds, by modifying the standard lesson reading material in a such a way that meets the student's exact areas of weakness. This can only happen if a teacher can then print-out a personalized version of the reading for each student. As you can imagine, a printer in the classroom is thus indispensable. \r\n\r\nThank you for assisting me in differentiating lessons and meeting precise students needs, all the while supporting our most sacred of public utilities-- public education.","fullyFundedDate":1772590480665,"projectUrl":"project/surprised-at-what-a-difference-a-printer/10020248/","projectTitle":"Surprised at What a Difference a Printer Makes","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Rogers","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-10_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10404238"},{"teacherId":9348852,"projectId":10033753,"letterContent":"My students have enjoyed the use of the vertical spaces to assist in their learning. Last week at our school dance, students designed and built a full photo booth experience from the ground up. They used DSLR cameras to photograph \"customers,\" managed lighting and backdrops, edited images on the spot, and printed high-quality photos for students who had purchased prints at the dance.\r\n\r\nWhen the printer and frames arrived, students were genuinely excited, they knew this meant their work would feel professional and authentic. Seeing their photos print instantly and watching classmates walk away with framed keepsakes made the experience incredibly meaningful. It shifted the project from a school experience to a true client-based production.\r\n\r\nThis wasn't just about taking pictures. Students practiced customer service, workflow management, time efficiency, and quality control, all skills that mirror careers in multimedia and marketing. They problem-solved in real time and took pride in delivering a product people were excited to receive.\r\n\r\nNext, students are reflecting on the event and analyzing what worked well and what could be improved, from lighting setups to pricing strategy. They are now beginning to plan future event-based media services for our campus, applying what they learned to refine their systems and grow their student-run production model.\r\n\r\nYour support gave them more than supplies, it gave them confidence, ownership, and a real-world experience they won't forget. That is the best way I can describe the tables and whiteboard. They are used by students everyday. Before school, at lunch, after school, and lots of students end up using them during class for project and collaboration time.\r\n\r\nThe whiteboard has been used by students to visualize projects, brainstorm, and a few students have used it to add a new quote each day. It has been fun to see.\r\n\r\nThe tables are perfect for laptops, so many students have been using them for that purpose. Others have moved them around and pushed them together to get the maximum use from them. The stools have been moved, the couches and other furniture have been moved closer to the tables. It has been great. I only think about taking pictures after I see the kids and do not have my phone with me. But I have captured some of the uses. Before having the headphones, I either had to play the video/audio for the whole class and stronger performers had to wait, struggling students were left behind because they needed a slower version... In other words, student level of confidence in interpreting audio texts has increased. \r\n\r\nThey are very engaged instead of having to bring the speaker of the laptop closer to their ear, while hearing many other laptops play the same audio but not at the same time. They stopped losing focus because they could easily get distracted by their shoulder peers to comment on what they see. \r\n\r\nAs I started to formatively assess them too, the results speak for themselves. As I mentioned, they have gained in confidence because we are able to do the listening as a warm up more often, it takes less time with the headphones as students are really focused, so as we practice more, students have shown growth in their listening and speaking skills on their assessments. \r\n\r\nLastly, they do not have to worry about speaking and being heard by others. The microphones helps them build that speaking confidence in a safer way for them; they don't have to be loud in front of others so I can hear them.\r\n\r\nThese are just a few examples of what I have noticed in the few weeks we received the new headphones (great quality too!), in terms of student engagement, confidence, and performance. Thank you again.","fullyFundedDate":1767050585442,"projectUrl":"project/headphones-mic-set-for-language-class/9679872/","projectTitle":"Headphones /Mic Set for Language Class","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Farigoule","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-7_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8170332"},{"teacherId":9641852,"projectId":10004220,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous support of our classroom project. Because of you, my students and I were able to start our art program with the tools, organization, and confidence we truly needed at our brand-new school.\r\n\r\nWe are using the new resources every single day. The organizational supplies immediately transformed our art room into a functional, welcoming studio space. For many of my students, this is their first experience working in a properly equipped art classroom. One moment that really stood out was during our first drawing unit, when students independently gathered their materials, set up their workspaces, and cleaned up with pride. The structure you helped provide allowed them to focus fully on creativity instead of worrying about whether we had enough supplies to participate.\r\n\r\nWhen students first saw the materials, their reactions were priceless. There were smiles, excited conversations, and a lot of \"Wait, this is all for us?\" Several students commented on how professional the room felt and how it made them take their work more seriously. For a brand-new program, that sense of legitimacy and care meant everything.\r\n\r\nThanks to your support, students are now moving into their next lesson with confidence. They are currently building foundational skills in drawing and mixed media, experimenting with new tools, and learning how to plan and reflect on their creative process. Because the supply gaps have been filled, students can focus on growth, risk-taking, and self-expression; exactly what an art classroom should foster.\r\n\r\nYour generosity helped us do more than stock a room; you helped us build a creative community from the ground up. We use UNO to reinforce colors, numbers, and conversational phrases in Spanish, turning vocabulary review into a lively game. Jenga is perfect for speaking activities—each block has a question or prompt written in Spanish, so students practice forming sentences and engaging in dialogue as they play.
