The materials I am requesting will help my students step into the shoes of real life scientists! They will be able to collect and record data, look at microscope slides to discover something new and come to conclusions just like a real scientist would in their lab or field site. Having microscope slides will allow students to visualize what we are learning like mitosis and meiosis, test tubes give students the chance to collect their own DNA and compare that to other organisms DNA, and the water testing kit let students explore the impacts poor water quality has on the biodiversity of a stream or river. Hands-on science creates experiences they will remember forever! All these materials will create hands-on activities that students can relate too and make personal connections to the material being learned. This will also give students the chance to practice future career paths like a lab technician or a field scientist. Ultimately, hands-on science projects where students can make connections too will increase their interest in a subject that most students dislike or don't perform well in. These materials will benefit all my students and create a community of scientists!
