The plush frog, named \"Snacky,\" is a great addition to our frog-themed classroom.\r\n\r\nWhen the snacks arrived, school hadn't started yet, but I explained to my students how I acquired the snacks. They expressed how thoughtful all of you were to give them a bin full of snacks that I can refill until the supply is gone. They were there when \"Snacky\" arrived and love him.\r\n\r\nMy students and I have had many conversations about generosity and being thankful for what we have. We have discussed the need to avoid greed and waste. They have been outstanding about not abusing the bin daily, and some have even brought in a box of snacks to add to the bin. Your kindness and generosity have made a truly meaningful difference in the daily lives of our students, and I cannot thank you enough for helping create a more welcoming, comfortable, and nurturing learning environment.\r\n\r\nFrom the moment we received the bean bag chair and sensory rug, the children have been absolutely thrilled. The large bean bag chair quickly became a favorite spot in the classroom, offering a cozy place where students can take a moment to relax and self-regulate on difficult days. It is amazing to see how such a simple addition can make the classroom feel more inviting and supportive.\r\n\r\nThe sensory rug has been equally impactful. Its softness and appealing texture provide a wonderful tactile experience for the children, many of whom love sitting on it as they engage in fine motor activities. Some of them love to lay on it and pretend to swim. Whether they are threading beads, using tweezers, or completing puzzles, the rug creates a comfortable and calming space that encourages focus and concentration. It has truly enriched our learning center by making these important skill-building activities more inviting.\r\n\r\nBeyond just the physical comfort, these sensory options have given our students important tools for self-regulation. Many children face moments during the day when they feel overwhelmed or anxious. Having a designated, sensory-friendly area helps them manage those feelings in a positive way. The bean bag chair and soft rug serve as a safe haven where they can pause, take deep breaths, and regain control of their emotions. This has led to noticeable improvements in classroom behavior, participation, and overall well-being.\r\n\r\nYour donation has not only provided valuable resources but has also shown our students that they are cared for and supported. This sense of being valued is incredibly powerful. It fosters a love of learning and helps build confidence, resilience, and independence. Knowing that there are people like you who believe in their potential means the world to them—and to me as their teacher.\r\n\r\nFrom the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your compassion and your support.","fullyFundedDate":1746707573301,"projectUrl":"project/self-regulation-station/9212465/","projectTitle":"Self-Regulation Station","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Vanderwalker","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8899290_orig.jpg?crop=2130,2130,x0,y370&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1695904719637","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mrs-vanderwalker"},{"teacherId":245326,"projectId":9185290,"letterContent":"Sincere thanks to all who donated to this project! The changing lights make the room look more fun & colorful. The day's line leaders love to pick the color theme for the day. Fidget toys are always a big hit, especially this time of year as the heat is rising, but the teaching needs to continue. The bracelets & squishies are holding them over and helping to keep their attention. The washi tape is fun to use as the students make revisions to their writing pieces. It also adds some color to their pages! The cleaning wipes are helping to make our room cleaner. The students love to wash their learning areas with the wipes. The snacks...well, they are all gone. We recently celebrated Global Play Day, and the carpet was the perfect spot for the students to play with their toys and board games. Every time we have a chance for some independent reading time I always have to pull fair sticks to allow a few students to sit in the reading corner because that is everyone's favorite spot to read. \r\n\r\nThe privacy blockers are a convenient way to keep the students' eyes focused on their own work, which the students have used in other classrooms. My students love having the opportunity to learn at the standing desk. When they need a break from sitting, they move their belongings to the desk and continue working. One day we were working on addition and subtraction with regrouping and the next thing I saw was two classmates sharing their manipulatives and working together to solve math problems. The headphones have been as beneficial as those we purchased at the beginning of the year or those the students purchased have been failing. We have a couple of programs that require students to use headphones with mics to complete the lessons. \r\n\r\nMy students were so curious and excited when the large box arrived with the standing desk. One of our custodians put it together for me and this cause the kids to be super excited about using it. As I said earlier, my students are very comfortable with their learning needs and move to that area as they feel the need. There have been a couple of times that I have worked with the kids back there and it seems to have them more on task as they stand to learn. \r\n\r\nI will continue to use the standing desk and headphones with my students as these are both valuable additions to my classroom.
