This is my first year teaching 3rd grade and your donation made it possible for me to build my classroom library.\r\n\r\nGraphic novels are loved by many students in my classroom. My students love them because they are longer books with pictures for them to look at while they are reading. Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Dog Man, Baby Mouse, The Babysitters Club are all popular choices in my classroom that this project provided for my students. \r\n\r\nReading looks like a couple things in third grade. Some students are reading novels independently and some are reading picture books. I take time to read aloud to my students every day, and I have found that this is a lot of my students' favorite part of the day. It is also my favorite part of most days! All of my third graders seem to be enjoying getting time to read independently this year and many of them are choosing the graphic novels that this project helped provide. There is a group of 4-5 boys that are reading the Diary of a Wimpy Kid books together during our quiet reading time. There are 2-3 girls that are loving the Baby Mouse and Babysitter's Club graphic novels and flying through them to earn their reading goals this marking period. These girls are reading below grade level and were having a hard time finding longer books to read. The Baby Mouse series has been perfect for them while also helping build their confidence!","fullyFundedDate":1771002120133,"projectUrl":"project/graphic-novels-for-3rd-grade/10086531/","projectTitle":"Graphic Novels for 3rd Grade","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Ohs","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-9_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9837397"},{"teacherId":10303550,"projectId":9796800,"letterContent":"We are incredibly grateful for your generous donations to support our sensory room. There were smiles, lots of questions, and an immediate sense of ownership over their learning. Several students even commented on how \"NICE\" and special the materials felt, which helped set a positive tone for our classroom. It was rewarding to see how something so tangible could boost their enthusiasm and pride in their work.\r\n\r\nThanks to your support, Students will continue to use our classroom books to build reading fluency and enhance reading skills. The Chompsaw helps the students easily cut cardboard for projects that we are making. My 4th and 5th Graders have used it to cut small pieces for our marble mazes, my 2nd Graders cut apples when we were discussing the life cycle of an apple, and 6th Graders are using them to currently make large scale Gingerbread houses for our Christmas around the world unit. \r\n\r\nThis Chompsaw has been such a great asset. Students can quickly cut the pieces they need for their design. The machine is safe for all ages so I don't have to worry about anyone getting cut or getting their hair caught. The safety measures on the machine prevent that from happening. In years past, I had to use a box cutter for these projects and the students had to wait for me to cut all the pieces, this has definitely freed up time for getting these projects completed!","fullyFundedDate":1758287244014,"projectUrl":"project/stem-needs-a-chompsaw-bundle-pack/9718567/","projectTitle":"Stem Needs a Chompsaw Bundle Pack!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Fleming","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp2645805_orig.jpg?crop=1242,1242,x0,y165&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1730986309678","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/2645805"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_89357","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":533,"numTeachers":40,"percentFrplEligible":76,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":98,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":0,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":0,"gradesServed":"K - 6","studentTeacherRatio":"13.3:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_FRINGE"},"inStateSupporters":81.4,"schoolId":89357,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Curwensville Area Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Curwensville Area Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/pennsylvania/curwensville-area-school-district/curwensville-area-elementary-school/89357"}
