My students were so excited to use them, especially the books. They loved reading and talking about engineering, art, math, new places, our feelings and fears, Día de los Muertos, and many other topics. They often shared comments like, \"This book is my favorite!\" and \"Can we read this one again?\"\r\nThe supplies were used often during our math lessons, giving students hands-on opportunities to practice and learn. Because of your generosity, I am proud to share that so far 95% of my class showed growth in mathematics. Having extra materials to explore, practice, and engage with made a meaningful difference in their learning.\r\nThe tiles and games also helped us during indoor recess, making that transition more enjoyable and keeping students engaged, cooperative, and happy. It has had an incredible impact on our school community. I teach students from kindergarten through 5th grade and these materials have had an impact at all grade levels.\r\n Our K-3rd grade students have been reading the books that we have received and adding their own compositions to accompany the books with the classroom instruments that we received. They were so excited to see brand new rhythm sticks and to use finger cymbals for the first time.\r\nIn addition, these instruments have been added to our upper grade levels that are working on composing lyrics and music in separate activities in the classroom. They were amazed and grateful to have another Orff instrument in the class to play and compose with. This means that each students gets more turns to play when we use those instruments.\r\nIn the future, I am hoping to plan an unit in which our older students combine a reading excerpt for Black History month with a composition using our new instruments and a couple of the books that we now have in our music classroom library. My students couldn't wait to explore each new game, from strategy puzzles to fast-paced team challenges. We turned our first \"rainy day recess\" into a celebration — students formed small groups, read directions together, and got right to playing.\r\n\r\nIt was incredible to watch the teamwork unfold. One group worked together to solve a tricky stacking game, cheering each other on when the tower finally balanced. Another group dove into a creative card game, coming up with their own variations and sharing strategies. Even my quieter students found a place to shine — helping their classmates understand rules or taking on leadership roles within their groups.\r\n\r\nThese games have transformed our indoor recess time from just \"free time\" into a space for connection, creativity, and collaboration. They've also provided meaningful social-emotional practice — students are learning patience, sportsmanship, and how to handle wins and losses gracefully.\r\n\r\nThe next step for our class is to incorporate some of these games into team-building Fridays, where we'll rotate through activities that promote communication and problem-solving.
