For many, they serve as both a motivator and a support tool. Some students have been able to earn access to fidgets through positive behavior at school, which builds a sense of accomplishment and pride. Others benefit from using more discreet options in the classroom to help maintain focus throughout the day. In particular, the ring and sticker fidgets have been extremely effective, as they allow students to self-regulate without becoming distractions within the classroom. The teachers have also been thankful for this!\r\n\r\nIn my office, every student has enjoyed the new variety of fidgets, especially when navigating challenging conversations. Whether during one-on-one sessions or group counseling, fidgets help students feel more comfortable, and it's the first thing they grab! Fidgets make it easier for them to open up and share personal experiences with their peers. While I'm unable to share photos of the students due to legal limitations, I make sure they all know these materials were generously donated. That knowledge alone makes them feel valued and special. These moments sparked curiosity, meaningful questions, and genuine enthusiasm. My students are eager to dive into learning about how their brains work and how understanding the brain can help them grow as learners and classmates.\r\nThis coming semester, we will be focusing on inclusion and self-regulation.
