I once was a student and walking into a counselor or social worker's office can be scary, at first. As I turned the corner to walk into the social worker's office, I was greeted with a warm hello, and asked what they can assist me with at that moment. I felt welcomed, warm, safe, and a cozy feeling each time I visited the school social worker. As a new school social worker, my vision is to bring that same feeling I had to all of the students I am working with throughout the school year. I want them to feel that they are welcomed, feeling warm and cozy when they walk in and when they leave for the day. I want to be able to give them their own space to feel safe and comfortable, but the first impression will be a forever lasting impression.
