My students had never seen a coffee urn before and they were very interested in what it was and how it worked. Training them on operating the urn has taken some practice but they are taking turns making 20 cups before the whole 60. \r\nMy students are being introduced to working their first job as a barista and very excited to learn about equipment that they have never been exposed to. There is frustration and excitement at the same time as they learn how to operate a cafe in their school. Their social skills have increased with each other and staff and that has been a goal we are working towards. \r\nIt has been wonderful watching my students grow and seeing their confidence build up on a daily basis. All of my students are young men from different cultures and they have accepted their roles as baristas and are proud of what they can do for themselves and others.\r\nWe truly appreciate your donation and this equipment will be used for years to come.","fullyFundedDate":1759156751078,"projectUrl":"project/learning-a-latte-financial-literacy-as/9766259/","projectTitle":"Learning a Latte: Financial Literacy as a School Coffee Shop","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Randle","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-5_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9720649"},{"teacherId":1915999,"projectId":8552477,"letterContent":"Thank you for providing us with acting blocks!\r\n\r\nWe have been actively using these tools in our DC Directing and Production class as well as in the after school theatre program, and it has been to great advantage on the part of our students. \r\n\r\nHere are some of the ways that your gift revolutionized our programming in just the last few months alone: \r\n\r\n-performing students are able to focus on acting choices in voice and body because there is an instant table/chair/obstacle to work with, shifting their attention to the work of the storytelling rather than a reliance upon specific props, set dressing, and set\r\n\r\n-technical students are able to conceptualize theatrical works at a more complex level because they can use the blocks as immediate stand-ins for environmental designs, which allows them to shift their focus to leadership and collaboration-based conversations over logistical ones\r\n\r\n-the entire ensemble has used these as staple pieces for several performance-based problem-solving activities for peer mediation and issue exploration\r\n\r\nYour support of my project has unlocked what we're accomplishing in our theatre education, and promises us many more years of innovation and exploration!","fullyFundedDate":1733277384659,"projectUrl":"project/acting-blocks-to-remove-acting-blocks/8552477/","projectTitle":"Acting Blocks to Remove Acting \"Blocks\": Facilitating Compassionate Community Theatre","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. R. Students especially enjoy the competitive uses, though! \r\n\r\nWhat's really important to emphasize to you, though, is how grateful I am for your generosity and your support of my vision. On the very first day of implementing this system in my classroom, I had 100% participation from every student in every class all day long. My shyest students are motivated and emboldened by the activities that these buzzers facilitate, and students who usually take more air time are excited to use the buzzers to pass along recognition to fellow players using the collaboration feature. \r\n\r\nThis device will surely continue to spark my creativity as a teacher, and to serve new groups of students for years to come.","fullyFundedDate":1732861589167,"projectUrl":"project/buzzing-with-activity-gameshow-buzzers/8523490/","projectTitle":"Buzzing with Activity: Gameshow Buzzers for Equity of Voice","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. R. I have shared some of the passages with our History department, and the World History classes had a blast as well. \r\n\r\nFinally, the Hal Leonard production kits have been such a help as we build up the music education component of our after school theatre program. Students are learning a lot about their voices and their abilities as we work through our first pack. Your generosity has made a significant impact on their learning experience. Throughout our reading of the book, we focused on key skills such as characterization, and students eagerly engaged with activities like the \"character autopsy,\" which allowed them to dive deep into her psychological and emotional layers. We also explored the book's structure, understanding how it was told through flashbacks and divided into three sections, which encouraged the students to think critically about narrative structure. Additionally, they examined character FOILS—how Eleanor's interactions with characters like Raymond helped highlight her growth and development. One of the most powerful aspects of this book was its focus on mental health, a theme that resonated deeply with my students. As a final project, they created one-pagers—a visual and symbolic response to the text—that allowed them to express their understanding creatively and meaningfully.\r\n\r\nYour support has not only provided my students with the tools to engage in these critical analyses but has also inspired them as they approach their graduation and college preparation. These books were gifted to a group of hardworking, low-income students who are striving for success, and thanks to your kindness, they had the chance to engage with a story that will shape their perspectives and conversations for years to come. With the graphing calculators, they can quickly solve equations numerically, finding roots or solutions to equations after taking derivatives that cannot be solved algebraically. Furthermore, when it comes to the calculator practice portion for the AP exam, students now feel more comfortable and confident and have improved their scores significantly compared to where they were in October. \r\nAt this point, instead of focusing on arithmetic, we can now focus on analyze, interpreting information rather than trying to solve them by hand which is sometimes impossible. While I am happy with the graphing calculators, I am amazed with the charger. It is fast and convenient.
