Since getting the lecterns, I've seen an increase in student participation from the students who tend to fidget. There are also quite a few students who come in, excited and ready to use the standing desks. \r\nWhile I was assembling the first lectern (in class while my co-teacher led the room), students immediately began asking to get to use one. I'm glad that I have 5, but with the excitement that surrounds these desks, I almost wish I had more! \r\nOut of all my projects through DonorsChoose so far, this was the most expensive, but seems to have made the greatest impact. Other teachers have either taken deodorants, toothbrushes, and lotions for their own classrooms, or they've given passes to their kids who need to come and benefit from the available resources. \r\nMy students were ecstatic when they saw the restock, since I had been working with less-than-half-full drawers that I told them were usually more full. Once they saw the drawers actually become full, they were so excited to have more options than just the previous leftovers. \r\nAs far as the corner is concerned, I'm still using what was donated, but I will need to do another restock as things are taken (lotion and chapstick always go quicker). Many times, I find myself buying things for the classroom, so this is a weigh lifted. Students have already been using the supplies like the highlighters. We use those frequently to find text evidence and having the highlighters has been a huge help for students. The pencils are my favorite thing we received, because you can never have enough! The colorx wipes have come in handy this cold season. It allows me to clean the desk to ensure we are not spreading germs.
