One of my favorite moments happens each day after our snack break. We transition into our literacy centers, and I can immediately see the difference. Students who were beginning to lose focus are more engaged, eager to participate, and ready to practice reading, writing, and phonics with confidence. Something as simple as a healthy snack has become an important part of our daily routine and has helped create a calm, productive learning environment.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first realized that everyone would have a snack each day, they were so excited! Their smiles and grateful \"thank yous\" filled the classroom. More importantly, they felt cared for. Knowing that every child has access to a snack removes worry and allows students to focus on what matters most—learning, growing, and enjoying school. It has also taught them about kindness and sharing as they encourage and support one another.\r\n\r\nAs we continue through the school year, we are building strong foundations in early reading, writing, math, and science through hands-on learning experiences. Our class is currently exploring new literacy skills by reading stories together, practicing letter sounds, and writing simple sentences. We are also strengthening number sense through interactive math activities and problem-solving games. Having a nutritious snack each day helps students maintain the energy and focus they need to fully participate in these lessons from morning until dismissal.\r\n\r\nYour generosity has done far more than provide snacks—it has helped create a classroom where students feel supported, included, and ready to succeed. Thank you for investing in my kindergarteners and helping them build the confidence and skills they need for a successful year of learning. The moment my students saw the new whiteboards, markers, and classroom supplies, they were eager to put them to use. One of our favorite activities has been practicing letter formation and writing simple sentences on our whiteboards. Students excitedly held up their work to share with the class, knowing they could easily erase mistakes and try again. During art and literacy centers, they used glue to create interactive projects that reinforced beginning sounds, sight words, and story sequencing. Watching their confidence grow as they worked independently and proudly shared their creations has been incredibly rewarding.\r\n\r\nThese resources have made a meaningful difference in our daily learning. The whiteboards encourage every student to participate because they provide a safe space to take risks, practice new skills, and learn from mistakes. The glue and other classroom materials support fine motor development while giving students meaningful opportunities to create, explore, and express their understanding in hands-on ways. My students are becoming more confident writers, problem-solvers, and collaborators because they have the tools they need to actively engage in every lesson.\r\n\r\nAs we continue through the school year, these supplies will remain an essential part of our classroom. Students will use their whiteboards during phonics, math, science, and reading lessons for daily practice and quick demonstrations of understanding. They'll also continue creating interactive projects that strengthen fine motor skills while making learning fun and memorable. The excitement on my students' faces when they discovered their new planting supplies, books, and pumpkin life cycle materials was unforgettable. They eagerly filled their pots with soil, carefully planted seeds, and made predictions about what would happen next. Each day, students observed changes, measured growth, drew pictures in their science journals, and shared their discoveries with classmates. One of their favorite moments was spotting the very first tiny sprout breaking through the soil—a moment filled with cheers, smiles, and endless questions about how plants grow.\r\n\r\nThese resources have transformed our life cycle unit into an authentic learning experience. My students have learned that living things need water, sunlight, and care to thrive, while also developing patience, responsibility, and close observation skills as they nurtured their own plants. The pumpkin life cycle materials helped students make meaningful connections between the seeds they planted and the pumpkins they see each fall, bringing our science lessons to life in a memorable way.\r\n\r\nAs our plants continue to grow, students will compare their observations, record changes over time, and explore how plants support both people and animals. We'll extend our learning by reading informational texts, writing about our discoveries, measuring plant growth during math lessons, and discussing how gardens help our community. As soon as my students saw the new STEM storage center, they couldn't wait to explore it. Their eyes lit up as they discovered the neatly organized bins filled with familiar building materials and engineering tools. During one of our first STEM challenges, students worked in teams to design and build bridges strong enough to hold toy animals. Because everything was clearly labeled and easy to access, they independently gathered the materials they needed, collaborated with classmates, and confidently cleaned up when they were finished. The organized storage allowed us to spend more time creating, problem-solving, and learning together instead of searching for supplies.\r\n\r\nThe excitement has continued every time we use our STEM bins. My students take great pride in selecting materials, sharing ideas, and returning everything to its proper place. They have become more independent and responsible while developing critical thinking, communication, and engineering skills through hands-on exploration. It has been wonderful to watch even my most hesitant learners eagerly participate because they know exactly where to find the materials they need.\r\n\r\nAs we continue through the school year, these resources will support even more meaningful learning experiences. Our students will use them during science investigations, engineering design challenges, seasonal STEM activities, and collaborative problem-solving lessons that connect to literacy and math. Thank you!\r\n\r\nI had planned to give my EL students practice flash cards to use during the summer, in hopes they might use them to maintain the vocabulary they gained during the school year. And that is still the hope!\r\n\r\nWhat I didn't expect was how excited they would be!\r\n\r\nThe first students to see the new cards, books and games were two boys that have been a part of my language intervention group. With every book and tool I showed them their faces would light up. It was especially fun to see them looking through the bilingual books. They were immediately learning both English words and unknown words in their native Spanish!\r\n\r\nAnother story involves a first grade student who has been struggling to communicate and keep up with grade level learning objectives. At the end of a meeting in which it was determined he would be placed on an individual education plan (IEP), his father was wondering if they should continue speaking with the student in both English and Spanish, switching to English only. I was able to encourage him that the stronger he was in his native language, the better it would be for his acquisition of English! He was grateful that I was able to provide his family with bilingual books that they could use together at home.
