Because of your donation, our 7th grade students were able to experience poetry in a truly unforgettable and engaging way.\r\n\r\nYour contribution helped us purchase blacklights, neon paper, highlighters, whiteboard markers, and vibrant signs—all of which transformed our classroom into a glowing celebration of creativity for our \"Gloetry\" unit during National Poetry Month in April.\r\n\r\nOne of our most exciting projects was a team poetry challenge, where students worked in groups to craft poems using a random collection of words from envelopes. This activity sparked incredible collaboration, creativity, and laughter as students explored the power of language.\r\n\r\nWe also introduced blackout-blacklight poetry, a unique version of found poetry where students highlighted powerful words and phrases from book pages using highlighters under blacklight. The results were absolutely stunning, students were amazed to see their words come to life under the glow, and many shared that it was their favorite poetry experience ever.\r\n\r\nMore than anything, your gift brought joy, engagement, and a deepened love for poetry into our classroom. These materials didn't just light up the room, they lit up young minds.\r\n\r\nThank you again for believing in public education and for helping make learning both meaningful and magical.","fullyFundedDate":1738693352519,"projectUrl":"project/learning-gets-a-glow-up-fun-7th-grade/8913607/","projectTitle":"Learning Gets a Glow Up: Fun 7th Grade ELA Tools!","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Baldie","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8314012_orig.jpg?crop=600,600,x259,y264&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1643983445593","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8314012"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_86963","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":856,"numTeachers":52,"percentFrplEligible":53,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":19,"percentWhite":44,"percentIndigenous":3,"percentLatinx":14,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"6 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"16.5:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":76.6,"schoolId":86963,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Carl Albert Middle School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Carl Albert Middle School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/oklahoma/midwest-city-del-city-public-schools/carl-albert-middle-school/86963"}
