This is my second year of teaching at the middle school level. Many of the students that I teach come from different social-economic backgrounds. Often times if a student doesn't have the supplies necessary, my team pays for these items out of pocket to ensure student success. So many of the items I have requested would go directly to the students that need them.
Due to Covid-19, students spend so much time looking at screens. From their cellphones, TVs, video games, to their school Chromebooks, they are surrounded by technology. The supplies I have asked for will be used in addition to technology.
We do a lot of different types of writing in my class. I have asked for Sharpies to encourage students to write poetry and express themselves through Black Out Poetry. The hand-held dry erase boards will be used as an engaging way to write and correct mistakes. By having a printer in the classroom, I can easily print any assignment or resource the student needs when technology isn't readily available.
