My students will use calculators to gain the confidence to solve deeper level math problems. It speeds up the process and allows them to progress and not be held back. 6th graders think it's really cool that they are allowed to use calculators on their math assignments. It helps motivate them. I believe teaching them how to properly use this math tool is essential for practical, daily life. Organization helps simplify their lives. Students keep their notes and assignments organized in binders. Our classroom needs a designated spot to store and retrieve those daily.
