Because of your generosity, my students now have access to hands-on, interactive learning tools that bring reading instruction to life. We have already started using the games during our literacy centers, and it has been incredible to see students actively engaged while practicing letter sounds, blending, and word building. One of my favorite moments was watching a small group of students work together to build CVC words using a game. They were sounding out each letter, helping one another, and celebrating when they read the word correctly. It turned practice into something exciting and collaborative.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the new games, their faces lit up with excitement. They immediately wanted to explore everything and couldn't wait to start playing and learning. What stood out most was how eager they were to participate, even the students who sometimes hesitate during traditional instruction were jumping right in and asking to keep playing. The games created a positive, low-pressure environment where students felt confident taking risks and trying new skills.\r\n\r\nAs we continue to the end of the school year, we will be using these phonics games to strengthen foundational reading skills and build fluency. Students will rotate through different activities that target specific skills like identifying letter sounds, segmenting, and blending. These resources will also support small group instruction, allowing me to meet students where they are and provide targeted practice. What was once learning that lived quietly on paper is now proudly displayed throughout the library, including our walls - allowing the entire school community to witness their growth, creativity, and thinking.\r\n\r\nThis project has been incredibly exciting for our students. They are eager to complete library activities knowing their work may be showcased, and they take greater care and pride in what they create. The ability to see their work displayed has boosted confidence and motivation, helping students view themselves as readers, writers, and contributors. The rotating displays keep the space fresh and engaging, sparking curiosity and inspiring others to participate. The library is becoming a living gallery of student learning.\r\n\r\nSome of our quieter or more hesitant students have especially flourished. Students who may not always raise their hand in class are now beaming with pride when they see their work on display. Because of your generosity, my students now have fresh crayons, pencils, and dry erase markers to support their learning during this important second half of the year. We put the new supplies to use right away during our literacy and math rotations. Students have been using dry erase markers to practice letter formation, sight words, and simple sentences, while also solving math problems during small group instruction. Having materials that work well and are readily available has made a noticeable difference in their engagement and confidence.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the new supplies, they were so excited! Something as simple as brand-new crayons and working dry erase markers brought big smiles and a renewed sense of pride in their work. Many of them immediately commented on how they now had all the colors they need for their different pictures! It truly felt like a fresh start for our classroom, and that excitement has carried into their daily learning.\r\n\r\nAs we continue through the semester (and countdown to 1st grade!), students will be using these materials to strengthen their reading and writing skills, participate in hands-on activities, and build independence during centers. We are focusing on becoming more confident readers and writers, and these tools are essential in helping us get there. The colorful growth mindset posters will be visible throughout the school, serving as powerful, daily reminders that mistakes are simply opportunities for growth.
