The headphones have been especially helpful because so much of our math learning includes technology. Students are able to work independently on math lessons, practice skills at their own level, and listen to instructional videos without distracting the students around them. This has been a huge help during small-group instruction because I can work closely with a group of students while the rest of the class stays focused and engaged in meaningful math practice.\r\n\r\nThe printer and colorful chairbacks have also helped make our classroom more organized and functional. I use the printer constantly to provide students with math practice, activities, small-group materials, and other resources that support what we are learning. The colorful chairbacks have been a surprisingly exciting addition for the students! I use the different colors to help organize our table groups, and they also give students a convenient place to keep supplies and materials. Having everything organized and within reach means we spend less time looking for materials and more time learning math.\r\n\r\nOf course, the candy has been a student favorite! I use it as a small reward for participation, effort, teamwork, and staying engaged during our math lessons. Even something as simple as earning a piece of candy can motivate a student to raise their hand, explain their thinking, or keep working through a challenging problem. I have especially enjoyed seeing some of my quieter or more hesitant students become more willing to participate and take chances in math. Every item donated to our classroom is helping me create an environment where my 5th graders can stay organized, engaged, and excited about learning.
