My Students

Our school is a Title I School meaning more than 85% of our students are right at the poverty line. My goal is to help them succeed in everything they do. I have had the pleasure of working with the most amazing students. I love to work on social-emotional learning with games etc. My students love coming to eat lunch with me, meditate, play mindfulness games, and have meaningful discussions about life. My students are smart and have the ability to really do great things in life. All donations will benefit my students virtually this school year! Thank you for considering us!

My Project

Stress, anxiety, depression, and the trauma of a pandemic are overwhelming issues that are affecting my students. This year it’s been hard for the student to keep their mind on things. Students are having a hard time doing meditation. I want to still offer a safe space where students can participate in calming activities. The Zen Den will allow students who may be experiencing strong emotions to take a mental break, practice mindfulness breathing exercises and utilize calm down strategies, or even create mindful art. I am a certified Art Therapy instructor and would love the students to participate in Mindful Art activities.

The Zen Den offers calm down strategies and mindfulness exercises, students will work on slowing down, being more intentional and doing things with purpose and increasing their awareness and attention to what is happening in each moment around them.

Proven benefits of these practices include focused attention, increased ability to regulate emotions and demonstrate executive functioning skills, increased self-esteem and a more positive attitude in relation to school work.
