My Students

I have the privilege of teaching 30 wonderful, curious, enthusiastic fifth graders. Each of these students bring a unique perspective into the classroom. Each day is unique in it's own way. As an educator, I am constantly looking for ways to enhance each of my students' experiences and connections with our curriculum, as well as support these diverse learners. One way I like to support all of my learners, but especially my English Learners is by using meaningful picture books, creating dynamic art projects, and creating a flexible classroom environment that encourages collaboration.

In my six years of teaching, I've never met a group of 5th graders with this much passion, dedication, and enthusiasm for their learning!

They show up to school each and every day wanting to soak up any and all possible knowledge. This group accepts challenges and perseveres until they feel they have accomplished it. I am always looking for ways to enhance and support their learning with interactive experiences that enhance our learning.

My Project

We have had the same document camera for 12 years. While some things in life get better with age, a document camera is not one of them. Right now, the pictures we see are fuzzy, discolored, and out of focus. Each time we try to use the document camera, we end up turning off our classroom lights just to see a minimally clear picture on the screen.

A new document camera provides better visibility, accessibility, and flexibility.

We need a new document camera that projects clear, easy to see pictures onto the screen so that we all can all view and analyze work samples. So much of our core curriculum requires my students to create their own note charts that I need to model for them on the board. My students need a reliable document camera that will project a wide array of documents clearly.
