Thanks to your donation, our students have enjoyed sensory play with large, classroom-size containers of playdough in fun colors! They've also been busy creating art projects using the new glue sticks, oil pastels, colorful contruction paper, and tempera paint. Since receiving our supplies, students have made jungle and ocean animals for our zoo and ocean theme units, flower crafts for our garden unit, and school buses for the start of the new school year. \r\n\r\nThese fun activities allow many opportunities for learning. Playing with playdough or using glue sticks and oil pastels for craft projects encourage our students to work toward increased fine motor coordination, communication, pre-academics such as identifying colors and matching shapes, as well as social skills such as sharing, passing, and following directions. With our new supplies, our students have enjoyed hands-on learning fun!\r\n\r\nAgain, thank you for your donation which has been enjoyed by both this and last year's students in our classroom!","fullyFundedDate":1743049520749,"projectUrl":"project/sensory-play-and-art-supplies-for-hands-/9097353/","projectTitle":"Sensory Play and Art Supplies for Hands-on Learning","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Sandra","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-6_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/sandra-webb"},{"teacherId":6900310,"projectId":8689830,"letterContent":"Our students are spinning, rocking and having a blast with movement and sensory play! Thank you for your generous donation to help bring these exciting new items to our classroom.\r\n\r\nThe Seated Spinner, Swivel Sensory Spin Chair, and Sensory Tube have been perfect for individual student use and as part of small group turn taking activities. The large Rock Around Disk has been great for student shared play, and we've actually had up to 4 students at a time use it to spin together! All have provided fun learning opportunities for our students in balance and coordination as well as social skills \r\n\r\nThese items each also offer opportunities for students to work on sensory integration and regulation, enabling them to be better focused throughout the school day. \r\n\r\nAgain, thank you for these new movement toys, and for the smiles and laughter of our students as they enjoy them!","fullyFundedDate":1733243729409,"projectUrl":"project/spinning-rocking-and-shaking-fun/8689830/","projectTitle":"Spinning, Rocking and Shaking Fun!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Sandra","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-6_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/sandra-webb"},{"teacherId":6900310,"projectId":8688991,"letterContent":"Thank you for your generous donations for our new classroom folding toy shelf cabinet! \r\n\r\nIt was fun for all of us to see and open the giant box containing the cabinet when it arrived in our classroom. After opening, it needed just some minor assembly to attach the wheels and hinges and then it was ready for us to use! \r\n\r\nThe open, sturdy shelves in this cabinet provide optimal storage for our classroom toys. Toys are easily organized and displayed at our student's eye level and students now are selecting and putting away toys with greater independence. Once playtime is done, we're able to close the cabinet, providing more flexible use of our classroom space and minimizing distractions during other class activities. \r\n\r\nIn appreciation of the Molly Smiles Foundation, which funded a significant part of this project, and as a tribute to our former student Molly Gherlone, we have attached a small plaque to the cabinet. The students have really enjoyed completing puzzles, especially using our new puzzle table. They sort the pieces intro the different drawers, or sometimes take a drawer off on their own to work on a small section. Even better, we can cover the puzzle and move the entire thing to a different location and utilize the table for other activities, which is immensely helpful in our small classroom.\r\n\r\nIn the garden, the students added the new soil to 4 different beds. We have bulbs, wildflower seeds and various vegetables in the process of growing. The students are learning about the steps that are necessary to protect our blooming plants from the insects and ground squirrels near campus, as well as protecting them from the cold weather. They are enjoying watching the slow growing process and eager to see the results in the spring.\r\n\r\nBoth of these activities have brought joy to our classroom. Students are excited to use their extra time in the garden or working on a puzzle.
