Unlocking Student Engagement with Breakout EDU Kits
Help me give my students four Breakout EDU learning kits to help fuel their desire to learn and have the opportunity to become 21st century problem solvers.
Each of my students helps to shape the classroom with their unique and dynamic background that add strength and beauty to our learning environment. The fact that our school has many low income families, ESL students, and high-trauma kiddos doesn't dilute their intense desire to learn. My visual arts classroom welcomes a wondrous variety of 7th and 8th grade students every semester and we embark on a wonderful journey learning about the many mediums, techniques, and styles that the visual arts has to offer.
Every student deserves a chance, a chance to find out who they are, what they have to contribute, and become self-navigated learners.
I feel an incredible responsibility to offer as many opportunities, and variety of opportunities, for my students as possible. My kids love to see "what else is out there" and find out "what's next." Their desire to learn fuels my drive to teach!
My Project
"Variety is the spice of life." A simple line from William Cowper's poem "The Task", yet so true. My students will be learning and applying the many traditional techniques, mediums, and styles of art through a multitude of projects. However, I would also like to offer the opportunity for students to operate on an even higher level of learning; one that allows them to work in groups, emphasizing each others strengths, and encourages persistence.
My goal is to create self-navigated learners who value the attributes they have to offer and celebrate the special qualities of their classmates.
To watch my students become problem solvers who elevate in times of trial rather than run away. The Breakout EDU Kits allow kids to solve and conquer puzzles that align with the standards, but also allows them the opportunity and confidence to eventually create their own games.
