Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My players come from a football and soccer town where baseball is not a big focus in the area. The town is a small farming town located in Collier County, Florida. Coming from a baseball background, I have learned how much baseball teaches athletes more about life than people understand. There are many life skills that are learned throughout this game that I want to pass on to my players. At the same time, I want my players to take pride in the name they wear across their chest every time they step onto the field. Our school is a Title I school that has a population of 94% free and reduced-price lunch. Our student demographics are 75% Hispanic and 20% Black.

My Project
My players have never had unified practice uniforms before. My players come from a migrant community where many students do not even have baseball gear or clothes. Our athletics helps fund some of these necessities but we cannot always afford all the essentials. We were able to fund practice shirts for our team but were not able to purchase pants. Through this donation, we will be able to look unified not only in games but practice as well. Our team takes great pride in themselves and their school! This donation will only help that pride grow and bring smiles to many faces!
