Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The thing that I love the most about my students is that they push me to reinvent the way I do things. I teach in an area where approximately two-thirds of the students are at an economic disadvantage, but they don't let that define who they are. My students have diverse backgrounds and I love to get to know all of their stories and embrace the awesome kids that they are!

My students never fail to inspire me to become a better teacher.

My students are 7th-grade math students that are always looking for a challenge! They don't just want to learn something, they want to apply meaning to it and they want to know that it is relevant. I want to be able to give them the opportunity to learn and have fun and challenge themselves in the process.

Our district will see students in school online this year initially, and it will be challenging to make sure that students are equipped with what they need to be successful. Learning does not stop due to a pandemic and my students deserve to have what they need to keep on track!

My Project

Right now I am trying to run Google Meet, swap between tabs, and demonstrate topics on a whiteboard. Trying to get all this accomplished on one laptop screen is very difficult and time-consuming.

With a second monitor in use, I can spread my work out, have Google Meet running on one screen, and my tabs open on a second screen.

I can mirror my iPad, run slide shows, and answer questions from my students while not having to close and open window after window. It is quite frustrating and really bogs down the wifi signal used by the system. A second monitor will make it substantially easier to put students into breakout rooms and monitor them!
