My Project

There are so many benefits to children engaging in art experiences, ranging from fine motor, language skills, problem solving, to being a precursor to writing. Art experiences are also a wonderful fun way to get the five senses engaged: the feel of the different textures, the smells, the sound the brush makes stroking the paper, seeing their art come to life, and yes, sometimes things go in the mouth! What I love most about engaging my students in art experiences is their freedom to express themselves any way they want to.

Art materials such as colored masking tape allow the students to freely express themselves, because there is no right or wrong to use them, whether it be tape resist art or tearing or cutting strips and making a shape collage.

Art stamps and ink pads are also another way that allow the children to get creative and have limitless fun, yet learn while doing it! There is a quote that says "Imagination is more important than knowledge", and I believe with art, the students can have both.
