This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

In order to help my students learn the new content better, I ask them to complete different projects which involve writing and applying some important rules. I always encourage them to use their imagination and be creative. With loose leaf papers, markers, pens, and pencils, mathematics will come to life for these students. My idea is once they creatively complete the projects, we post them on the wall and hopefully, the lessons will stick in their minds.

I have many students who come to school hungry.

Coming from a community where the average income is $18,000, many of my students' families cannot afford basic necessities. I would like to provide that warm and nourishing environment in school with snacks. Many students stay after school for additional help. After being in school for 8 hours, they must receive some sort of snack. They always ask for it, and I would like to reward their hard work and love for mathematics.

Snacks are comfort foods that are often eaten to relieve stress or after a hard day's work. It is food that makes students feel better and psychologically heals them. I want to provide food that will do this, there's just something about eating snacks that you really enjoy to get you through difficult times.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
